Description
Elliot Friedman mentioned devils are interested in fiala and maybe something could happen around their 1st round pick

Just my idea. don't know how the wild would resign severson. Devils have a deal in place for dumba maybe around 7x6 or 7x7. could be cheaper then what severson ask is.

for sure. Just had to try to make something bigger.
and for ****s and giggles nhl 22 game nj doesn't accept lol. For my self I just can't see how the wild are gonna be able to resign either of fiala or dumba which ever they keep. I'd prefer fiala but then who of the forwards is traded for a spot for rossi? Dumba I can't see taking a team friendly deal as the d market has been signing stupid money. gonna be a very interesting off season to see how billy g works it.

I know it says anywhere, but I highly doubt either Kuli or Buffalo take that deal, they didnt have the best departure the first time around.

If NJ is trading their 1st for Fiala, I doubt that NJ gets Minnesota's 1st back as well, let alone Dumba, Addison and a 2nd for Severson. Greedy, keep it simple (Oh this isnt even a NJ fan's ACGM lol, why would you want to throw away assets like that)

Just keep Severson and everything else out of it.

Keep it simple, the NJ 1st and a B-level prospect and call it a day.

Other than being a high draft pick, what has Rossi actually done to deserve a roster spot? Dewar, Rau, and Rask were all better (eye and stats) than him for Iowa last year. Rossi is not in the same position as Boldy was this year. When Boldy got healthy he was the pretty easily best player on the ice for both teams last year in the AHL. If he earns a NHL spot in camp, great. If he doesn't, then he's back in the AHL and used as a callup.

I like MAF, but want nothing to do with more than a 1 year deal (2 if it's really cheap AAV) for him. He's old, and goalies really don't decline gracefully, they fall off a cliff. I think Middleton gets more than that if it's a 4 year deal.

I don't like trading Dumba, Addison, and Kulikov really puts a big dent in the RD depth. Spurgeon is going to be injured at some point during the season and there needs to be some depth to cover that.

simple isn't fun lol. But yeah I agrees 1st for fiala and maybe a little something. But let's say nj wins the lottery would the deal be more closer ? for the 1oa?

I think there is A LOT of disconnect between how valuable both Fiala is and a 5th OA pick. Fiala is what you hope that pick becomes but that pick has caveats that make Fiala *more* valuable. (I’m sympathetic to arguments to the contrary but I’ve been high on Fiala since the trade happened.) The 5th OA pick Carrie’s much more downside risk than Fiala and if the pick does become Fiala, it does so years in the future meaning you have to discount the current value when making the choice. If NJD is willing to wait for that and accept the downside risk, they shouldn’t trade that pick regardless. But if they actually want to “win now” they should probably add to the package in terms of fair value.

didn't rossi break the point record for players in Iowa? I know he hasn't done nothing when up and didn't really look good either but you would have to think the wild give him all the opportunity to make the team. I guess then we wait to see what happens during training game and pre season tp make the decision if he makes the team.
Only reason I gave maf term was to keep the avv down but yea 1 max 2 years would be ideal. I thought I read from russo the wild weren't completely happy with addison development this year I could be wrong. We can sign some depth d for cheap hopefully to replace Kulikov and the trade we did get a rd back which we'll lose again in the off season. They just some ideas. meddlton I always did 4 x 4 or more years and always got told it's to much so I lowered it I think he's worth every bit of 4 mill a season

Take out Severson and Dumba (Devils are likely re-signing Severson over the Summer).

Then take out Addison or MIN 1st. Wouldn't need both.

We aren't adding on that trade. If there's a add, it's on NJD side. Don't forget, both OTT and NJD are competing against each other, with likely others teams as well. That'll drive up the price.

If you want to make something bigger, I really think Addison could be on his way out this offseason. Package Fiala with Addison to land a high pick and nice prospect and call it a day.

He might have broken a rookie points record. He was tied with Rau, who played 8 less games, with 53p on the season. Shaw had 52 points (1 less game than Rossi). His numbers are nothing compared to Anas and Mayhew a couple years ago.

MAF is a 35+ contract, so 1 year low AAV + bonuses is the way I'd go with him.

Middleton I have as a $3m x 3 or a $4m x 4. He's a late bloomer and next year is his last RFA season. I like the $3m x 3 deal the best. It gets MN past the painful buyout years. Plus MN has a ton of LD prospects and one of them should be ready for 2nd pair duties in 4 years. Any longer than 3 years and MN starts running into the Reilly/Olofsson situation again. CAn;t send them down because they'll be lost to waivers. but don't have room for them to get steady playing time and it hurts their development/confidence.

I think Addison got bored/frustrated in the AHL this season and his play suffered because of it. I'm sure he's sick of driving from Iowa to MN and then back to Iowa after making popcorn in the NHL pressbox. It's part of being a pro, but he's still only a 21yo who hasn't figured out life yet.

I mean, what did you expect? Rau is 29 years old. He should be outproducing a 20 year old. And yet he's tied with the kid. In large part DUE to having Rossi on his line. Shaw is 3 years older and has 1 less point than Rossi, so tell me again how Rossi underperformed this year in the AHL.

We get it, you don't like the kid because he's short. But the fact remains he had that type of season after a year-long absence due to Covid recovery is pretty damn impressive.

He needs to beat out NHL players, and he's not even beating out AHL players. Yay great, he had a decent year in the AHL, but it wasn't anything special. Saying he should get a spot in the NHL because he was put up the same amount of points as other guys that belong nowhere near the NHL is weird to me.

He wasn't too good for the AHL last year. He isn't at the point where his overall game has graduated out of the AHL either. Boldy was at that point of too good, and wouldn't have gained anything by staying in the AHL. This is just basic prospect development stuff. He learned things and improved as the season went on; that's all you can ask from any prospect.

Addison is about at that point in his development too. He needs steady NHL time next year to keep developing. He's not going to get much improvement by playing more AHL games. It's just stagnation for him by staying there. Maybe he's good enough to make the next step, maybe he's not. But he's at that point in his development where it's time to find that out.

Rossi's game needs work and he needs to add muscle mass this offseason. His size does matter because he's not going to be effective on 2 of the FWD lines. He's not fighting with Duhaime for a roster spot. Rossi needs to be better than Hartman, Freddy G, and/or Jost. Right now he's not. If he's not at the start of next season then he belongs in the AHL.

I might not be very high on him as a prospect, but that doesn't mean I want him to fail. MN needs him to turn into 1C if they want to have any longterm success. The cupboard is empty for possible top-6 centers outside of him.

Bonuses (ELC and 1 year 35+ contracts) are paid after the season, if they are met. It the team goes over the cap because of them then it's added to next year's dead cap total. They don't affect the daily cap counting.

I've never once said he deserved a spot on the NHL roster next year. Do I think he makes the team out of camp next year? Sure. But if he doesn't, I'm not going to cry about it.

Boldy took two AHL seasons to get up to snuff to crack the NHL roster and stick.

Rossi has played but only one so far. Where he was already top three in points on the AHL team, AFTER NOT PLAYING HOCKEY FOR A YEAR. If he's not ready for the NHL, then he's not ready, and that's OK. Then give him another year to develop, but don't diminish what what he did accomplish this year.

It just seems extremely odd to continue to belittle the kid after everything he's been through.

And to be clear, he needs upper body mass. His legs are already like tree trunks, and he is incredibly hard to move off the puck. He just needs to bulk up his upper body strength to absorb body hits better.

First off he did go thought the Swiss league camp and played a couple games. The Jr's camp and played those games in December. He was back on the ice in June. He was back playing for Austria in August. He missed 6 months due to injury; that happens all the time in hockey. Yes, it was potentially career ending, but so are any knee or head injury.

When did I diminish anything Rossi did this year (before the snippy comment in this post)?
I asked a fair question about a prospect deserving a spot on the NHL team. As a reply to a question about which FWD gets traded to give Rossi a spot, from the creator of this ACGM.
Answered a question about a points team record, and gave some stats.
And talked about the other contracts given in this ACGM. The Middleton contract was the most interesting part of this team to me.

God no, thanks for destroying our RD depth when we're already thin as Swiss cheese there already.

Then who's next man up when one or more of Spurgeon, Severson, or Goligoski inevitably go down with injury?

Which NHL ready prospect slides in there and has the talent to play in the top-four if things go south?

Addis.... right, he's gone.

Hunt? He's a lefty who can play the right side if he has to, but is still a couple of years away from sniffing the NHL.

Peart? Nah, he's the same as Hunt.

Your basically shooting our RD depth beyond what's on the roster to shreds. It's either prospects who aren't ready or AHL'ers who don't belong.

I fully expect Brackett to take care of RHD depth at this years draft, but those prospects will still be a long ways away that they won't be of immediate help.

You can afford to move Dumba or Addison. Not both. If one goes, the other needs to stay.
