Description

Everyone is quick to trade Weber, Price, Byron and Armia because of their contracts and cap hits...but when looking at the team "overall" with them (even in LTIR), the habs sit 10m under the cap. Even with Petry.

With the plethora of youth moving in, we need to give a chance for all these guys to prove SOME sort of value (specifically Byron and Armia) in order to be able to move them later on.

Our Laval team still allows the team to remain strong while developing our youngsters.

Yes but, there’s always a but, if and when Carey comes off ltir then it buggars up your cap. If possible it would be good to move 1 to 3 of the players everyone keeps talking about.

I think major issue is that teams have an off-season cushion of 10%, which allows them to exceed the cap while attempting to ice a compliant roster for the upcoming season. You really can't have Price and Weber both in that situation, if indeed that ends up being the case.

Also, having players on LTIR during the season isn't ideal for a few reasons, one of them being that when making a trade, the contract value isn't pro-rated and it's full value counts against the cap.
