Wingers on the Devils who have produced more than Anderson last season: Jesper Bratt, Yegor Sharangovich, Dawson Mercer*, Pavel Zacha, Andreas Johnsson.
Anderson would be bottom 6 for the Devils, making 5.5M for a long time.

Devils current LD: Siegenthaler, Graves, Smith
Devils future LD: Hughes, Bahl, Mukhmudullin
No room or need for Edmundson

Allen, not a bad add but him+late first+2nd is no where close for 5th overall

If Devils trade the 5th pick, its going to be an "impact player". So one of Suzuki or Caufield would have to be coming back which won't happen

Fair points. A few things. Anderson would be at 4.5M or 3.5M with the retention from Montreal so it wouldn’t be at 5.5M
Personally I have Edmundson over all those D , although I can obviously see Hughes passing him. That being said Edmundson only has 2 years left on his deal

Edmundson isn't playing above Graves/Sieg in the lineup. Fitz is also big on analytics, and Edmundson's are infamous.

With all due respect @ Lochness1202

No amount of money will convince Marc Andre Fleury to move his family, specifically his kids again especially to Canada. Especially being he blocked all Canadians teams at deadline. It will be Minnesota, Pittsburgh or Chicago before any Canada team will have any chance, even if its small for Canada teams

That’s quite a bit for the 5th overall. Josh Anderson value is seriously undervalued here. Every GM in the league would pay dearly for him.
The 2nd rounder is 33rd overall then the pick in the 20’s from Calgary AND a good, cheap backup goalie in Allen AND Joel Edmundson, who’s in the running to be captain of this team in 2022. That’s a package that would be hard to move for the 1st overall forget the 5th

His analytics we’re good in Montreal next to Petry. His last full season he was plus 28 and was above water on a bad team this season in limited action. You are looking at his numbers in St Louis

Did his family even move to Minnesota and Chicago? I don’t think he moved his family to Minnesota….
And Montreal is probably where he will move to when he retires so he’s moving there anyways at some point.

His family is still in Chicago. He was only willing to get traded to one team. Minnesota.

Why? Location. He's unwilling to move his family at the moment and we're the closest playoff contending team there was. He also really likes the team and is good friends with the GM. It was a no brainer on his part.

But I think you've got him pegged wrong.

He was asked by Minnesota media members after he first arrived what his plans were, beyond just this current season, and his reply was that he still loves playing the game. He enjoys playing with his teammates and still loves winning with them. And, depending on how his body continues holding up he'd like to play another year.

Key word that, year, given there wasn't a s at the end of it.

It's possible he takes a 2-year deal if he feels his body will hold up. But I find it extremely unlikely he'll sign longer than that.

Furthermore, he's made $80M over the course of his career. Given his comments to the media and how he's carried himself throughout is time with Minnesota this year. It's not about the money for him at this point, he's just playing because he wants to.

If Guerin offers him a 1-year contract at $2M to stay in Minnesota, while Hughes offers up a 3-year $7M/per contract. I wouldn't be surprised if he took Guerin's offer to stay with us over going to Montréal.

His wife and kids all seem to really love living in Chicago and really seem to like Minnesota whenever they visit too. Given that the two are only a hour and half flight away from each other or a 3hr round-tripper. He doesn't need to necessarily move his family any time soon, which is something he's said he's loath to do.

    But I digress.

With all due respect, he's not moving his family again. His family Is still in Chicago..wild consistently bring his family to see him all the time. So you are wrong on both end. His stated, he has zero intention on moving his family; specifically his kids again.
