could be it but vs toronto in the regular season he's got a 2.96gaa, 919sv% vs toronto now in the playoffs he's got 3.65gaa, .880sv%. besides the stats his lateral movement looks slow. maybe he's just off to a cold start but i suspect maybe something with his hips/groin.

In the eyes of most people, goals > assists. That’s why unbiased, I think matthews wins.

The best part is, there’s no bad choice this year. All three have legitimate reasons to win

That actually doesn’t show anything, it shows Trouba’s elbow is in front of Crosby, it doesn’t indicate contact, it’s one of those pictures where you assume contact is made due to depth perception

I have watched it more times than I care to admit. lol

For my eyes, it is a dirty hit where his elbow is flying out. I think we can all be entitled to see things differently.

I am probably seeing this also through a player who I feel is a dangerous hitter (Trouba) and a player who I don't like to see getting another concussion (Crosby).

While it is true that Matthews scored more goals, McDavid scored more points total (123, with 79 assists).

I feel like it's gonna be close, but Auston still wins.

Some folks think McDavid should basically have the Hart Trophy named after him and that he should win every year. I get it. He's the best player in the world, by a significant margin. I don't wanna keep going back to the definition of what it means to be the most valuable player to your team, but there's gotta be a difference between best player and most valuable player. Oftentimes, there's no difference - like last season.
