Because Saros I guess? Idk I also thought Sorokin was very good this year, probably more deserving even than Markstrom, being on a horrible team comparably. Varlamov is pretty good and he struggled with that team, also on a lot of GSVA metrics Sorokin is #2 behind Shesterkin.
Saros should be there no question, Andersen should be there instead of Markström though.

Most likely the voters saying that his season was the product of the defense in front of him. As soon as Nedeljovic left, his save percentage dropped by 31 points, from .932 to .901, and Mrazek had a similar (35 points) fall from .923 to .888, and as soon as Andersen came into Carolina, he went from .895 to .922, so there's the perception that the Hurricanes' defense makes goaltenders' jobs easier, whereas someone like Saros had to carry Nashville to a playoff spot
That's a narrative I can't really understand. By the logic of the people saying this every Goalie on a good team would automatically be better than a Goalie on a bad team just because of the defense in from of him. Andersen wasn't good last year but that's just a down year, that happens. 19/20 he was average I'd say, but he was very good in the seasons prior. Carolina also lost their best D-man (slightly ahead of Slavin imo) and got a pure offense, no defense guy in DeAngelo as the replacement. Looking at his stats, Andersen should be in the Top 3:
(Among Goalies with 30 or more games.)
.922 SV% (3rd)
27.8 GSAx (3rd)
0.543 GSAx/60 (2nd)
0.54 GAA better than expected (2nd)
4.64 WAR (3rd)
I don't rely on advanced analytics this much normally, but, in my opinion, they are the best way to judge a Goaltender. Stats like shutouts, GAA, etc. are irrelevant.
