Description
If the Habs pick 1st and draft Wright. Who are the 4 Centres next year? And in what order?

To help make your decision Dvorak finished with 57% on faceoffs, Evans 50%, Suzuki 50%, Poehling 46%. Dvorak & Poehling saw the biggest increase in faceoffs after MSL took over.

Do you return Wright to junior, play him on wing for 1st year or play him at Centre at 1,2,3,4?

Do you trade Dvorak, Evans or Poehling? Do you move one of them to wing?

Curious to your feedback?

My Centers are

1. Suzuki 2. Wright 3. Dvorak 4. Poehling move Evans to 4RW and trade Armia even if we have to pay to dump him (although I don't think we would)

I'd switch Dvorak and Wright at least for the beginning of the year.

Send Wright back in Junior
Run Suzuki Dvorak Evans Poehling
There shouldn’t be a discussion, having a chance at Connor Bedard is the #1 goal next year

Also not a bad idea. Many “good” centre’s began on wing and or 4th line.

It’s rare a 1st overall goes back but Owen Power from the Sabres just did it.

Now having a shot at Bedard would be unbelievable. I just think how Crosby changed Pittsburgh. But with MSL from the start, Suzuki, Caufield will be better. I’m really curious about Barron. I really like his game. And now that I said that, I’m thinking of Guhle.

I think Wright is NHL ready but not for a predominant role at 1 or 2 C. In that case, I would send him back to junior to boost his confience at 120% even if he doesn't really need it, just so that we don't rush him unnecessarily in a probably bad season. Let's just do our best for Bedard, Fantelli or Mitchkov and bring Wright when we can really start turning the corner seriously with capspace, UFA signings etc. He won't be good enough next year to toss Dvorak anyway IMO so 1.Suzuki 2,Dvorak 3. Evans 4. Poehling and pray for another top 3 pick. Barron Guhle Harris, Ylonen or others is enough youth for MSL to develop in 2022-2023

There are so many good options. From 2012 to 2017 the Habs didn’t draft well but the last 4 drafts have or show some real exciting prospects.

I’m just happy that we finally have some good players coming.

We do have a lot of upcomging good players and I am really happy too but most of them are Defenseman. If you consider Caufield and Suzuki (and they are) as out of the prospect pool, we are still very very thin in foward depht, Farrell, Mysak, Kidney and Roy being our best chances at top 6 fowards. None of them are blue chips prospects tho so we reeeeaaaalllyy need to be on target in July AND have a chance to aim on a big name in June 2023

1- Suzuki 2- Dvorak 3- Wright 4- Evans - I like Poehling on the wing more than down the middle (for now anyways) and I also could see Dvorak and Wright swapping spots at some point. I dont see the point of sending Wright back to Kingston

Yup, hard to argue with what you said. It demonstrates the importance of getting at least 1 good player out of each draft.

Send him back to juniors. Let him play a ton and let him go to world juniors. He needs minutes and he’ll get more in OHL. I don’t mind bringing him up for a 9 game sniff . Maybe Laval, but he needs to play

This. Let's give him a 9-game audition, and then we'll see.

Based on performance in FOW, points, +/-, Evans deserves to play Center over Poehling. You'd be better served moving Poehling to LW.

Dvorak was outstanding the last 30 games of the season in the faceoff circle and in pts/game. He deserves a shot at a full season under MSL as a top 6 center. FWIW he was preferred over Suzuki for all critical faceoffs down the stretch.

Because he’s Canadian and his age, he wouldn’t be allowed to play in the AHL next year. The 9 games would be a good indication of where he’s at.

I agree Dvo was so much better his 2nd half. Good choices between Evans and Poehling. I like both. Both smart players and defensively responsible.

29 pts and minus 5 for Evans over 17 pts and minus 21 for Poehling. Evans is probably the most underrated center by his own team's fans in the league. If you give him the 3rd line center role you can probably expect 35-40 points out of him year after year. I hope they keep Wright in junior 1 more year (if they draft him) and play Suzuki, Dvorak, Evans, Poehling next season. Based on our second half center is no longer our issue and we should give these guys a chance to perform as they did in the second half over a full season before we make big changes.

Our wingers were really terrible last season. Gallagher, Byron, Drouin, Armia, Hoffman were all terrible. Imagine the points these Centers would have put up with better wingers?

I agree with you on Evans. I would add since MSL took over Poehling was -6. He also played on 4th line with rotating wingers.

With that said, you are correct we need much more from the wingers. If Gallagher & Hoffman can have bounce back seasons that will help. Personally I would move Drouin & Armia. Both tease with their immense potential but let you down by seasons end. I Ylonen, can he take another step?
