I think Buffalo would at least consider flipping Bjork for Lindblom. How much ice time did he generally get per game? Was he pushed up the lineup when more injuries happened this year? Bjork did not get a lot of ice time, but he also really didn’t do much with it. He was dressed for half a season and had five goals. If Lindblom can beat that I would say Buffalo makes the deal.

Marleau scored 37 pts in 82 games before the last year of his $6.25m contract got dumped and bought out, the cost? A 1st round pick. Philly will be paying the same to unload the full contract

Fair enough, figured with KK and Aho he may not get the ice time down the middle but he's definitely got a good shot at 3C from what I've seen

Lindblom is probably a slightly better player than Bjork, after AV was fired he scored at a roughly 40 point pace in a middle 6 role. Flyers benefit from this strictly via cap savings

I don’t see a spot for him in our lineup though
But maybe we’d do it
Bc the $$$ part doesn’t matter to us

Ghost at $4.5m cost a 2 and a 7, and I just gave you the comparable every team is going to hold them to in Marleau. That Florida 2024 1st is going to be the ask from everyone

It’ll likely to be
Aho
Kotkaniemi
Staal
Drury

Drury will slide up the following year. If we are to trade our better prospects, it will be for a roster improvement. Sellgren, Bokk, and some other lower prospects for picks. Much lower than firsts though.

the leafs currently have a winger who can put up 80 points on the leafs and a 2nd and a guy who looks like a middling 3rd liner dont make up the gap for a guy who "might" be able to put up less

Not sure if lindblom is worth it. He makes 3 million, who is he beating out for a top 9 winger? Especially if Quinn and peterka are fighting for 2 of those spots (with Skinner, tuch, olofsson, asplund, krebs/mittelstadt). So you would be bringing him in to play 4th line? What if adams wants a heavy 4th line?

Canes reject that in a heartbeat. Not saying that it isn’t proper value, but Drury holds so much more value to the Canes than he would to any other team. He will more than likely be the successor to Staal’s role when the time comes for Staal to retire. Plus, considering the fact that Drury is almost guaranteed the 4C role next season, he isn’t being traded. The Canes would be more likely to move him for Philly’s first round pick this year and another piece, based on his value to the Canes, not to the Flyers mind you, but anything short of that the Canes shouldn’t and won’t consider. And while that would be a massive overpayment for someone who would end up as a 3C, if Staal were to leave, the only prospect the Canes have that has the potential to replicate what Staal does is Drury. And that is invaluable to the Canes.

And for JVR, everyone will be looking at the Marleau trade as the best comparable. Either Philly pays the first to dump him, or they just suck it up and either buy him out or play him and hope to get value with retention. He had 1 pt more than Marleau and was more expensive. It’s a first or nothing.

He’s at least no worse than Bjork, and keeping him as an extra forward to play in case of injury is still better than Bjork doing nothing in the same role. Given the chance he could develop chemistry with a guy like Apslund too.

I kind of tend to agree with the whole Drury thing. Where I disagree is if the Canes think Staal has even 2 more years at 3C, all of a sudden Drury is 24 and not on an ELC anymore, not to mention I personally think its harder to grow in a 4th line role (although the Canes seem to get more value out of their bottom 6 than most of the league). Definitely could see why the Canes wouldn't move him under any circumstances though

Regarding JVR, I think Dadonov is a better comp. Marleau was older with roughly equivable, if not worse previous 2 season results (JVR had a very strong 20/21) and Toronto was in a more dire situation to move him. Not to mention he played on a roster with Matthews and prime Tavares as their 1C/2C, while JVRs linemates this season were...... let's just say he didn't have as good of linemates lol. Any team acquiring JVR can retain 50% at the TDL and double down to get additional assets, Philly won't give a 1st to move him and I think if a team had the space and a 2nd was the best offer that it'd be enough

For the Canes, they don’t exactly have a 4th line per se. It’s more of a 3A/3B line. Staal isn’t going anywhere soon, so Drury won’t get as many minutes, but when the time does come, Drury will be there. I’m pretty sure the plan would be to eventually swap the 3A/3B lines and have the Staal line be the “4th line” to give Drury more of an opportunity to grow into that role, but having the capability to ice 2 checking lines, that is very useful to the Canes.

JVR would need to be gone if Philly wants to make these moves. That’s the same situation for Marleau and more than likely for Dadonov. That’s not the problem. It’s the money that is the problem. Dadonov makes 2mil less than JVR, whereas Marleau was making about 750k less than JVR. Plus, I’m pretty sure that Marleau didn’t play with Matthews or Tavares all that often, but I could be wrong. You look at what the Canes got out of that Marleau trade, they got Jarvis. Teams will be looking at the Marleau trade as a comparable for what the Canes got. And, by the time 2024 rolls around, I am kind of expecting Florida to fall off quite a bit due to cap constraints, so that Florida pick might end up being 13-15 OA. The better return would be from the Marleau trade, and that is what team will be pushing for.

Let's agree Bjork was the Sabres' 13th forward.
They are both 25 yo, drafted the same year 138th v 146th OA.
They are both RFA's at the end of 2023.
Bjork scored 0.4 goals/60 with an AVV of $1,600,000 Lindblom scored 0.7 goals/60 with an AVV of $3,000,000.
Bjork PK for 0:35 min/gm, Lindblom for 0:48 min/gm
Bjork hits 0.9/60, Lindblom 4.6/60 (that would rank third among the Sabre forwards last year, behind Hayden 10.5 and Girgensons 5.9 per 60)
IMO with nearly $40,000,000 of cap space, I would rather have Lindblom as my 13th forward than Bjork as Oskar had more goals than Anders had points.

I agree with everything you said, although, to be fair, I wonder if we can't find somebody better than both for 3m
