Description
Assuming Holtz joins NJ next season and keeping the lines similar to the end of last year, that leaves room for a top 6 winger spot. Who do you guys think the Devils should target? Anyone I missed? Let’s discuss

Take Fiala out. NJ fans only wanna give up bottom sixers for him, and that's not gonna cut it.

In order
1. All the money at Gaudreau
2. Trade the 5th overall for Fiala
3. Zacha++ for Garland

Forsberg would be great too but the injuries give me pause. Boeser would be too expensive, in both trade and contract, for what he brings in my opinion. Everyone else I'd rather stay the course then sign.

There will be more to it than money, but in terms of straight up money, something to keep in mind

10x8 from Calgary (I believe they will at least offer that) equals 11.42x7 from NJ

If we are doing Zacha for Garland/Boeser, why are JR/Allvin so high on Zacha? He's on an expiring contract, has a bad plus/minus, and his points are lower than Garlands.

Nobody is expecting Zacha to get traded for Boeser or Garland 1-for-1. And really?... plus/minus?...

Yea it will, but I believe if he does leave Calgary, he'd wanna go to Philly, and if not them then NJ would be second choice. He fits well with them and still close to home. I'm not really sure how Calgary's cap situation is, I know both him, Mang and Tkachuk all need new deals. I'm hoping Calgary gets scared off from the 10mil.

I think the Flames are going to have like 27M in cap space this summer. Most of the top and middle of their lineup is locked up next year, so the only two guys they really need to focus on are Gaudreau and Tkachuk. I think they'll look to move Monahan, Lucic, maybe Tanev? I haven't done the detailed math, but I think moving one of them would give Calgary the cap needed to sign both Gaudreau and Tkachuk and fill out the bottom of their roster.

I don’t think a top-flight winger is worth it. We have plenty of offense here and more coming.

And if we are trading Hughes for Fiala, are we better? Or spending 1/8 of our cap on Gaudreau? Or Hischier for Laine? Or Holtz plus a top-5 pick for any of these guys? (Answer is no)

I think we are good if we stick with what we got. We have been dealt a good hand thus far. Add depth if needed.

Also, wingers often come cheaper that expected. Look at teams that may have to move a player out.

PIT (Zucker? Kapanen?)
CGY (Mangiapane?)
VGK (Dadonov?)
TBL (?)

I believe Zacha was briefly rumored as one of the pieces Vancouver was interested in. Ty Smith was another name often mentioned.

My guess at time was Zacha, Walsh, 2nd for Boeser.

Canucks hired one of NJD’s analytics staffers and Walsh had been a fancy stats darling in AHL. So that was the logic on that piece.

It shouldn't, but I think Gaudreau's playoff performance will go a long way in determining what the team offers him. The thought of him not being on the team is scary. The Flames wouldn't be able to score.

Maybe he will go to Philly or NJ. Hard to say. One thing Flames AGM Craig Conroy said recently, really stuck out and it's that Gaudreau really pays attention to records. If he stays in Calgary he will be the all-time leading scorer in Flames history
