Not that we’d wanna give up Asplund….
as he’s a young forward who’s been playing well defensively & getting better

But it’s possible we’d value a late1st over him

Sorry it isn't that simple at all. Mrzarek and Holl....especially Mrzarek just can't be traded "anywhere." Their cap is real and can't be wished away.

Der-Arguchintsev is a career AHLer. Drop the Sabres 2nd and they'll do it

so a 1st and a prospect for a 27 point career high bottom 6er, makes sense

Asplund is Buffalo's best defensive forward, he's extremely valuable to the Sabres and they arent flipping him for a bunch of nothing. Maybe if Tampa beats TML, they would consider it

a first is nothing when hes expecting it to be pick 28-32 and he wants Buffalo's 2nd which is 41st. Asplund is worth a lot more to Buffalo than 10 spots in a weak draft

You're right 10 spots in 30s in kinda of nothing, just to take on Mrzarek's 3.8m contract, and especially if a young NHLer Asplund is included.
And regarding the Marlies SAM....unless teams think he going to be an NHLer, he value in an NHL trade means absolutely nothing.

I really like Asplund, but he is hardly worth a first.
If the Leafs made it the final four the trade would only move the Sabres up 13 to 10 spots (presuming the Sabres won the cup) about the value of the 44th OA.
What do you think is the future of Der-Arguchintsev?
He was drafted in 2018 and has not has proven to be a solid AHL forward.
While Asplund offers many intangibles, IMO the Sabres would be crazy to reject the trade as written, having four picks in the first round would make it a very interesting first draft day.
IDK why the Leafs would make the trade, I just do not see a spot for him in their line up.

So TML 2022 first and Mrazek for Asplund?
I am good with that trade.
Buffalo gets, 5 picks among the top 41 and a GK who may bounce back.
The Leafs found UFA Kampf last year, I would presume the Sabres could find someone to fill Rasmus' skates.

Holl traded for assets, Mrazek trades with assets to dump. No point in making mock offers, just saying it would be done

Sabres declines. Those couple draft spots are simply not worth breaking good chemistry within the group.

That’s fair enough. What would the offer need to be to get Asplund? Huge fan of his game and I think he’d be a great fit on the checking line

Probably 1st round pick or part of some package that would bring better player. Some sort of offer that is not going to happen for defensive forward who is not puting many points.
The issue with Asplund is that he is worth more to the team, than you are willing to pay him, to play for yours. And he is cheap.

Depending on what the Sabres are looking for I’m sure a deal could be found. Maybe, big maybe, a deal where Asplund is included for a Nylander package, but a lot more would need to be going Toronto’s way

I really can't find a deal for Asplund - anything above 1st rnd pick is easy pass from Sabres - they have plenty of them.
Anyone giving 1st round pick for 4th liner is not gonna happen.

As for Nylander, I doubt Sabres are interested to do big deal with Leafs.

Damn that sucks. Asplund is such a good bottom 6 guy, I think he breaks out offensively soon while still being the defensive beast he is. But yeah if Buffalo doesn’t want the picks like that or a package with Willy, then there’s nothing they can really do
