Detroit declines. Trading Hronek without getting a Defenseman back makes the team worse.

I don't think Detroit is likely to trade their 2nd best RHD... Ottawa should hold on to Formenton until it's absolutely necessary to move him for something much bigger than Hronek...

In order to spend close to the cap, Ottawa must sell out 41 home games. That is not happening soon...

I like Mathieu Joseph, but Dorion will give him a short contract at a lower AAV. Stutzle will fetch a good chunk of money next year so cap flexibility and patience are the best approches right now.

No need of Burakovsky... They need a reliable two way center and a top pairing defenseman for Chabot.

Del Zotto and Hamonic contracts will be gone for sure but against who??? That's the problem!!!

Zaitsev to Arizona ... They will ask the same package than Stralman trade even after his signature bonus of 2M$. Dorion won't pull the trigger on this one...

2nd best RHD and I think it's safe to say 2nd best defenseman.

If you look at players in Detroit's system you'll see wingers aren't a need at all. So trading their 2nd best dman for a winger doesn't make much sense. Especially when that defenseman put up more points than the winger. Plus with the demand for good RHDs far exceeding the supply of good RHDs you're going to pay a premium to get one and that's if you can find a team willing to trade one. If you want a good young RHD you pretty much have to draft one. I'm pretty sure it was an Ottawa fan who said that a while back.

i mean he may be their 2nd best defenseman but hes not a #2 defenseman or anything, I think hes pretty expendable given hes making 4.4 million. this was honestly pretty steep from the sens imo, I really like formenton, I just think hes playing the most crowded position for us, and i wasnt sure who else would be out there and i wanted to try some trades with him for an RD lol

that quote was taken out of context. Dorion said they are ready to spend, but it wont be sustainable unless they start selling out 41 home games. I think norris and stutzle are a dynamic #1&2 centres and you can bank on the upside of pinto at 3c.

i mean I like him but hes not anything special, the statistical models ive seen has him overpaid by like 1-2 million. I just think his playstyle would elevate playing next to sanderson.

Filip Hronek easily returns a late 1st round pick at the very least, So Detroit passes.

He's as good as anyone on the Leafs, Yeah he sucks defense wise. But then again he's an offensive Dman. And when hasn't the most offensive Dman ever been great at defense.

Well I don't think you have to worry because I don't see Detroit trading him especially for the offer above he is worth more to Detroit it's that simple. You do realize arguing that he isn't that good to get him at a cheaper price is a logical fallacy therefore making the argument in valid.

Filip Hronek is definitely a capable offensive contributor, but to this point in his career I don't think he's ever out offensed his bad defensive results. He's mid.

He is what he is, A very contributing 3/4 RHD who over an 82 game schedule will put 0.5 points per game.
