Unless petry refuses to play in mtl (which doesnt seem to be the case) i would much rather have him then subban for the next 3 seasons. Manson could be a nice addition but with the amount of dman we have coming up i would rather hold onto savard and let his current deal run its course. The package may be fair the habs perspective but i think theres a much better chance of getting a higher return at next year's deadline if Petry can have a solid start to the year.

Those are fair but i think this defence needs a new look, well with subban an old look. I think he could reinvigorate this locker room and get the fans pumping. Maybe playing in the habs uni gets him back to his old form too

why do people keep thinking LTIR rights are worth anything? even if the guy is LTIR bound until retirement you still have to pay a team to take the contract

Yikes. Savard, Armia, and Byron are cap dumps and Petry is worth a 2nd at most. None of these trades happen.

Samsonov, McMichael for Byron (-$1.275M), 2nd, 2nd

Take McMichael out and Caps might still say no.

Samsonov for Byron (-$1.275M), 2nd, 2nd. #33 and another 2nd for Samsonov and taking Byron at $2.125M. The Caps are cap slammed so Montreal might need to retain the full 50%. Then there is a better chance.

Agreed. The Jets paid Arizona to take on Bryan Little's contract (2yr x $5.292 mil AAV). It cost them Nathan Smith and the Coyotes tossed a lottery ticket back to the Jets.

The Jets still paid to get rid of the contract unlike this ACGM where ARI is paying to be cap constrained for 4yrs.

and? they still paid not much. How about datsyuk's contract? there are lots of those out there. You pay to move the money, a team does not pay you to take money. the only other option is that you trade for money that works better for you. IE the leafs trading insured Clarkson for not insured Horton

sure, none of the other teams do those trades either, they benefit the habs in a tremendously one sided way

Don't listen to them, they were wrong about Chiarot and Lehkonen value by miles. They even said Pacioretty was washed and worth nothing. Look what we got for them...

I think you're close on Petry and Savard value. We could have Samsonov for 2 2nd, but Washinton can't take Byron's contract, We'd have to dump him elsewhere.

As for Weber, Coyotes will be interested, but i think it'll be for future considerations. His contract would only be useful to Arizona, as it would help them reach cap floor for the next years, while saving money.

I’d do the Faksa for Armia swap but that’s about it. Way too much for Petry
