Montreal is not doing that, we already have too many wingers signed for too long. Byron's cap will be off the books through either buyout, trade (cap dump scenario) or letting it expire next year.

Jets can get a much better return for Scheifele
Debrusk isn’t a need or want in WPG
Smith is a definite no thanx

Sanford will be let to walk… we won’t be ready-signing him for any reason… he was a waste of an asset to acquire

Don’t want Myers, or his contract, back

Wouldn’t touch Byron if he was free… sure as hell wouldn’t pay to get him

Instead of getting younger, better, and faster, these trades makes the Jets dumber, older, slower, and much worse

We don't need another 3/4 center though we need a 2 center. Lowery is not that player

If Bruins need a centre next summer, that looks like a fair deal for both sides. So does the Myers/Wheeler, though NTC comes into play
Byron for Lowry straight up in a fair trade. But Lowry has way too much term, and at 3.25m for a third line centre.....too expensive.

I don't see Winnipeg having any interest in that deal. It's a classic quantity for quality deal and the quantity from Boston doesn't address a single primary need for the Jets of they move Scheifele.

I think it's realistic, two good top 9 forwards a prospect that needs a new home and a first. or the other one Beecher stud smith 1st 4th 6th

Imagine having Laine, Wheeler and Schiefele and flipping them for PLD, Debrusk, and Myers

I don't like it. That Boston trade is too much volume to make up the value. Waiting for at 2023 1st is a problem for me despite the fact it's a supposedly better draft. I would be very unhappy if that were the actual return.

My ask from Boston would be DeBrusk, Carlo and Lysell for Scheifele + something.

Last offseason we traded 2 - 2nd round picks for Dillon so talk about taking a loss to flip him one year latter for one 4th rounder. Maybe a 2nd & 3rd due to less term?

We won't need Myers because we'll have Carlo and we'll move Schmidt to Detroit for a 3rd rounder.

Samberg is 100% playing 2nd pair D for us next year and Stanley is likely traded or in the pressbox.

Meh... for a 4th, I wouldn't be angry about Dillon, but he's not a great fit and would be pretty low on the target list as far as the Wings are concerned... Schmidt is more likely of a target for Detroit...

Lowry is virtually an impossible trade without similar term/cap being returned to the Jets. 29 year old 3rd liner, 30 point centres, making 3.25m X 4 years is luxury that few can/want to afford in a cap strapped league.
Montreal need Byron and Drouin to be off the books next year so they can sign Caulfield long term.

Getting Byron over Lowry definitely makes you faster

Also this trade is much more a ''getting rid of 3 years of 3m+ 4th liner''. Lowry being a bigger cap dump than Byron you aren't paying for him, you're paying to get rid of a big term contract. Habs would easily decline.

If WPG is desperate to move him, I guess. It just feels like this is quantity vs quality. None of the pieces going to WPG are really all that good. The best piece is the 2023 1st and it'll be a late 1st round pick at that.

No… no it doesn’t.
Byron is declining hard and doesn’t have trade value…. And is a 5’9 Smurf
Lowry is younger, better, and more useful.

Lowry might be the best player at the moment, but still nobody wants a 3m+ 4th liner signed with terms, that don't have any value. And yeah, even if Byron is small and getting older, he's still one of the fastest skater in the league lol

Habs would want nothing to do with that trade.

Suzuki dvorak and evans are all better than lowry in the middle so hes a 3+ million 4c on the team nevermind if wright or cooley come in.

Byron expires at the end of next season and the money is more valuable than lowry is

VAN would reject rather quickly. There would need to be waayyy more retention on Wheeler for it to even become a conversation

Idk I think it could work. Wheeler in a sheltered middle 6 role would provide decent depth scoring. He can also play centre in a pinch. Canucks would have plenty of room to add another D-man.

Maybe I will make an AGM for it from the Canucks side

I think it would have to be a subsequent move but really doesnt make sense for VAN. Like JT/Boeser would have had to be moved first in a move where VAN acquires a top 4 RHD and then make this move. But even then, there are a ton of great top6 forwards in UFA this summer. WHeeler at 5.75 for 2 more years at age 35 isnt the best JT/Boeser replacement available

All the deals are awful for the Jets. Retaining on Wheeler and taking back Myers. Lol. The Jets end up paying more salary and being much worse.
