Well his way got a 2nd round pick and fringe prospect the other way doesn't. Its basically 2nd round pick for 3.3M dollars. If MTL really wanted to buyout Drouin I think the above option would be better since they have the cap space.

Wings have specific needs, Experinced LHD and center. RHD is not a concern for Wings. Petry is a luxury and one Wings do not need. I know he is from here but that is irrelevant and plays no point in what Yzerman is doing

Why do Wings fans keep saying this? Hronek and Lindstrom were atrocious this year. Wings are far from set at RHD and Petry would be an upgrade in the short term. That said, no chance Wings give up a 2nd with that contract

Yeah fair enough but I'm not sure a late 2nd rounder and Benson is even worth all that. Drouin at half price is worth something alone and buying out Kassian is worth the 2nd alone also. I dunno, i don't see the point of doing this. The Habs are flush with picks already and this doesn't save them a that much cap space really.
