The Wings 7th and 10th best pipeline players according to Corey Pronman are no different than the Habs number 1 and number 2 ranked pipeline players. You are brilliant!

Yes a rebuilding team trades away a player that has solid potential (Blashill just always played him with scrubs and didn't help his development. I think he will break out next year with Vrana) and a very solid prospect that has been playing well in Sweden for a 34 year old in a position they have a plentiful amount of... This makes absolutely no sense.

What would make sense to you? Its a trade which is give and take. You only dont like it cause its not your idea. You simply take all the negative like a 34 year old comment despite Petry being a top4 RD which always goes for a bounty. No team doesnt need a top4 RD especially an anemic defensive team. That is such a lazy narrative. The reason he's being traded to the Wings is cause Jeff Petry asked to be traded and be home in Michigan. This isnt some idea pulled out of nowhere but simply an idea that you dont like and have to put your egotistical self into the equation. Zzzzz

Or Petry is a nice piece for a team that doesn't have a top 4 right handed offensive defenseman. He replaces Hornek on Detroit, but he cost more, is older by a decade and most importantly adds little production in comparison to. No point in the Wings giving up future value for something they already have regardless of how anyone feels about said value.

Exactly Petry just doesn't fit on Detroit maybe if Holland was still GM he would overpay for a Michigan boy but not Yzerman. It's not egotistical to think that Petry isn't a good fit on a rebuilding team with two younger top 4 RD, its just logical. Send him somewhere else.

I get where you are coming from but the fact that it hasn't happened yet is a very good sign that it isn't going to happen. Hughes has been Montreal's GM for almost 3 and a half months and he has made 7 trades. They are all TDL trades but there are other GMs that don't make that many TDL trades in 2 or 3 seasons. You know Hughes was trying move Petry probably more than any other player on the team
but he is still in Montreal.

It is just as ridiculous as Wings trading a 2nd rounder for a 34 year old defensman on a 6+ million dollar deal for two more years to a team who has screwed cap situation

The kid is 22, Petry played bad this year and he is 34, and makes rough 7 times as much. People overrate what a player has done instead of what he is doing now.

Oh another beauty from you. It is not our idea because we think it is bad. And your two comments made me laugh. Petry is aging and saying he is a top defensman is stretching it a little. But the one that got me is that he will help a anemic defense. Sir, Petyr for most of his career is a minus season after season. How in the helk does he help a team with an anemic defense, when is is just as bad defensively? At least Staal is good defensively with being on of the few players on Wings in the plus column.

Lastly if he has asked to be traded, and wants to pick his destination, Habs have no leverage and Yzerman does. So asking for Anything in the 2nd round is just ridiculous. Yzerman is not going to get fleeced.

You are so smart telk me where he plays, 3rd line minutes behind Seider and Hronek? For 6+ million. NO.

The biggest mistakes on this site is not understanding the cap and the ramifications it does to a team not for this year but down the road.

While that is ridiculous offer so is the posters offer. Wings in rebuild and giving up a 2nd round pick for a player Wings do not need is not good team management. They need two things desperately, LHD and Center, not an aging RHD which they have two in Seider and Hronek.

If you post something and do not like the comments then maybe you should not post anything. Fans on this site have been posting Petry to Wings for 1/2 the season and consistently they have been shoot down.

Oh i did not post that thread, OlegP did. But while you say that offer is ridiculous, i wouldn't trade Petry for Zadina and Soderblom.

Petry to Detroit won't happen, we all know that. I think all Petry's trade should add a comment saying "to any team". They just put the team as Detroit because he's from there. Anyway, Petry's value is all over the place right now, with his 20 points in 29 games under St-Louis, who knows what will happen this summer. He even said yesterday that if he was to stay in MTL next year, his family would come to MTL too.

I just hate when people criticize threads, but won't have the courage to dip their toes in the water. It's like complaining about politics, but you didn't vote when you had the chance... Lame.

Probably the same kind of people who say this player or that player is bad, but doesn't realise the said player is in the NHL, the best league in the world...

I understand, but like I said for the past 3 to 4 months there have been posts on this very site for Petry to Wings for Zadina, Zadina and a 2nd round pick, Veleno and a 2nd Veleno and 1st, Zadina, Veleno and a 2nd, Hronek and a 2nd and my favorite, Petry and Poehling for Hroenk, Veleno and a 1st.

All are bad for Wings. And if you do not like people putting up critics of your post, do not post. I gave amply answers why Wings would not make this deal several times on this site. I guess I get tired saying the same thing over and over. And so do many others. Now was his offer serious, no, but you took it that way because most Wings fans see the same Petry trade to Detorit once or twice a day.

Wings want to win and begin to make playoffs and start the winning g culture again. But in this site lately, otherteams want to make the Wings the dumping ground for bad deals and do so while robbing the better players. It gets frustrating. Again do not take his response as a true belief but more, 'I am sick of thses Petry rumors and think trading a prospect like Soderbloom and Zadina, whatever he may become, ridiculous.

This is not my post, don't blame me for those Petry to Detroit trades. I know it won't happen, they already have Seider and Hronek on RHD, and both are better than Petry.

To me, it's frustrating when i see Detroit's fans answer to Petry's trade. I get that they don't need him, but often the answer are that he's a cap dump and worth nothing, which is ridiculous. He's still a 2nd pair 40+ points RHD, with 20 points in his last 29 games. At 6.25M for 3 years, he's under a decent contract. Habs could retain half his salary to make him more appealing to a contender, but either way, MTL is getting more than a late 2nd and B prospect.

It's not that people started lately to make the Wings a dumping ground. It's been like that for years. I think people assume you're still rebuilding for another 2-3 years. It's gonna be hard making the playoffs in the Atlantic against Toronto, Florida, Tampa Bay and Boston. That's why MTL is rebuilding, because they can't compete against those teams for the next 5 years anyway.

This is how all posts should be with a little levity not a bunch of ppl with no crass coming in and offering nothing but negativity. You dont have to agree with a trade but at least compromise and try to understand where the OP is coming from. If youre going to say a top 4 RHD is cap dump and be holier than thou as to the idea of the OP even starting a thread that offends you then you offer absolutely nothing here thus are a troll. This disconnect because of tribalism here doesnt make you any less of a troll cause you are joining the majority whom just reply to make themselves feel superior because they dont like an idea that isnt coming from their brain. That's why these trolls are impossible to deal with when you cant even have a discussion.
