Not bad, think it's a bit of a overpayment for Fiala but it's something we could do.

I don’t think the wild would take that package. The picks are good but not mitts or Bryson. They probably aren’t pieces that honestly fill any wild needs.

I think the wild will figure out how to keep Fiala, but why not add Middleton to that trade lol, if Fiala is gone theyll have money to sign him

Bryson gives them a legitimate NHL dman that can play both sides at a 1M$ cap hit. That is absolutely something they need.
Mittlestadt gives them a young center, who has improved defensively and still has offensive upside at a cap hit of only 2.5M$. Also something they could definitely use.

What do you expect to get for him if you can't resign him. He's a RFA with Arb. Rights. He's having a really good breakout year, but he's basically Reinhart. Probably get a little better than what he got.

As a Wild fan, I’d prefer if they get can one piece of higher value even if that means less quantity. But if this is like ~17th OA, ~36th OA, Mitts and Bryson, it’s probably close to what we can expect. I don’t love it, but that has more to do with my hangups than the value here.

I do hope they keep Middleton though.

His breakout year is definitively better than Reinhart's was last year. But yes, I find Wild fans are not considering the RFA with Arbitration rights factor enough. Reinhart and Buchnevich are the two recent examples from last season and they both support the idea that Fiala will get less than his true value.

Solid, I agree. It'll be 15 or 16 overall for the VGK pick. This obviously falls apart if they win the lottery and are picking 5th or 6th and defer the traded one to 2023.

Bryson does nothing for MN.
-Brodin, Goli, and Merrill are signed for at least 2 more seasons. Kulikov signed for next year. All 4 of these guys are LHS d-men who can/do play either side.
-MN is already small in their d-corps, it's why they picked up Middleton at the TDL.
-In the last 2 drafts they've spent a 1st, 2 x 2nd, and a 3rd on LHS d-men.
-It'll take an overpay OS for MN to not re-sign Middleton (unlikely imo). He's the d-man that is the best fit with Spurgeon.

I have Bryson as about a late 3rd value. So with that pick instead in mind the Fiala trade isn't bad, but I'd want more if I'm MN. Mitts + 15 + 45 (2023), + 85 oa picks might be the best offer MN gets.

Bryson does create cap space if they move any of those dmen though. or like you said, he could be swapped for a 3rd or flipped for a 3rd.

The cap space gain is minimal, he's not an upgrade over anyone, and the effort to try and flip him isn't worth it. So BUF swapping him for a pick would be better from MN's side.
