LA says no. If we've learned anything from this season it's that defensive redundancies are crucial in the event of injuries.

Absolutely no interest whatsoever in installing Tanner Pearson 2.0

Hot take, Vancouver adds in a Zub for Boeser swap. Sens can find another top 6 winger way more easily than they can find a Shutdown RHD like Zub.

Kings have Doughty/Roy/durzi/Spence/grans/faber on RHD and could probably re-sign stetcher for cheap. I think they will dangle walker to add up front this offseason. Just a hunch though

As for why Pearson specifically, kings and Canucks were in trade talks earlier this year. Main piece the kinds were targeting was garland but there was some speculation it could be Pearson https://www.nhltraderumors.me/2022/02/nhl-rumors-kings-making-calls-to-canucks.html?m=1

If it was garland being traded, I would want roy or durzi or grans instead

I'd argue that picking up Pearson is not "adding up front."

Tanner Pearson’s 1.73 even strength points per 60 would be tied with Anne Kopitar for 5th on the kings this year.

You can easily slot him in on a 2nd or 3rd line for some secondary scoring without needing to give him PP time to produce. His defensive impact were also very good this year as he was one of Vancouvers best forwards at prevent chances against.

Im not saying he’s a stud or anything, but neither is walker. It’s a mid pairing d-man for a middle 6 forward. Utility is the same, just LA and Van are both trading for positions of strength for positions of need

I’m assuming Boeser signs 6.375 AAV long term

Garland for Grans plus makes sense. Pearson for anything makes no sense -- wrong age, wrong contract, wrong side.

Wrong contract? His contract is good, just not necessarily where the Kings want to be spending cap space I guess

LA would trade Walker for a draft pick before they traded him for Pearson. Tanner Pearson would be a 4th line forward on the Kings.

Kings wingers better than Pearson: Kempe, Iafallo, Moore, Arvidsson, Kaliyev, Athanasiou.

It’s a big stretch to say athanasiou and kaliyev are better than Pearson. Pearson has a better two way profile than both of them. Also, as you pointed out early in this AGM, injuries happen. Pearson can slide up to a top 6 role effectively.

The value in the trade is fair. If the fit isn’t right that’s fine but yogurt underselling Pearson
