how is the bruins trade "selling low" bruins get a 1c that isnt a transcendent star with 2 years left on his deal.
jets get a 25 year old 20+ goal scorer top 6 forward cost controlled and a 28 year old very solid 2 way top 4 dman also cost controlled through the same period as debrusk. jets are getting 2 significant roster pieces for 1.
if you dont like debrusk or dont like grz thats one thing. but thats pretty decent value. im so beyond tired of every boston deal "starting with a first and lysell" bruins got lindholm on extension without lysell or lohrei. find me any other team willing to trade a top 6 forward and a top 4 dman let alone an additional pick for any non superstar player. i look at a brayden schenn type deal (younger/better contract/similar player). where the blues sent a late first, lehteras 2 year cap dump and another conditional 1st for schenn and had him for 2 years before locking him up. Schenn was 25 when that was made. not 29 like scheif. Scheif plays a more physical style of hockey, how much longer does he truly have in the league? the next 2 years should be fine. we need the next guy for 10 years, not 2.
DeBrusk is alright, but he's overpaid for what he brings and is a bottom 6 player. Also as a left shot winger, doesn't fill a need for the Jets.
Grzelcyk is a tiny bottom pairing LD and is the last thing Winnipeg needs. The Jets have more than enough LD, another one doesn't add any value for the Jets.
So, while you may not like it, that's the way it is. PPG 1C's on a bargain contract are about the rarest thing in hockey. You're not getting one for leftover, throw away parts. Boston really has nothing that they would want to trade that would interest Winnipeg. Lysell is okay, but would only be an add on to a better needed piece.
Schenn also isn't a comparable as he has never been a PPG 1C, let alone a 6 time PPG 1C.
The Jets have no need to move Scheifele, so they don't have to entertain lowball offers.
