Unusual 3 way Boeser trade

Créé par: CEO
Équipe: 2022-23 Canucks de Vancouver
Date de création initiale: 24 avr. 2022

Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
Boeser firsts signs a 2 year deal at a 6.5M Cap hit. This is lower than his QO but takes him directly to FA. He signs with the understanding that he will be traded. The trade sends him to Minnesota via the Red Wings.

The Canucks send Boeser and Poolman to Detroit. The Red wings take on Poolman's contract, then retain 3.25M (50%) of Boeser's contract and send him to Minnesota, who take the low cost high potential winger to help them contend and replace Fiala, who is sent to the Red wings, and signs an 8 year extension with them, with a cap hit of roughly 6.75M. The Wild send Vladislav Firstov to the Canucks, and their 2024 3rd round pick to the Red wings. The Red wings send their 2023 2nd round pick (worse of the two), and Cross Hanas to the Canucks

The Canucks offer Letang a 1 year, 9.5 Million dollar deal he can't reject, and sign Janmark as a depth winger who can produce points. Letang walks after a year and we resign Miller and Horvat

I'll give you credit for putting an original spin on the Boeser/Fiala swap that people have kicked around. It would definitely make Minnesota a better team over the next 2 years, I guess it depends on what they think Firstov's ceiling is and how comfortable they are having Boeser being a UFA in 2 years when Boldy will be need a pay raise and money will still be tight. Interesting idea though.

Nothing in for Detroit. Sure Letang can reject, especially if can get 8m X 4 year. Boesner and Wild cannot sign an eight year extension after signing a two year deal....It can be discussed but the actually signing would hve to wait a year.

Sure Boeser at 3,25 million would be *Borat voice* very nice, but it's for two years only. If Fiala is willing to take anything under 7 million (6,75 in this case) we should keep him. He's that good. And his deal, 8 years, would cover his entire prime. But a nice idea, nonetheless.

Yeah Detroit isn't dealing a 20 year old Cross Hanas for a soon to be 29 year old RHD in Tucker Poolman who we don't need. We need 2C and Top 4 LD help. So 100% pass.

If you read the description Fiala goes to Detroit.

So basically we take on Poolman and retain on Boeser for 2 years and send a second and Hanas and get Fiala

So we get both Fiala and Poolman then we retain 50% on Brock Boeser for 2 years to help out Minnesota. Detroit's not going to do that. Kevin Fiala for $7,500,000 x 8 Tucker Poolman $2,500,000 x 3 years and then Brock Boeser $3,250,000 x 2 years with 50% retention. Yeah don't see it happening.

Oh I agree, just wanted to clarify the trade.

It does have some imagination though, and we would get Fiala without paying big assets. I don't hate it, just don't like retaining on someone for two years.

So Detroit gets Poolman and Fiala for retaining 3 million for 2 years and Hanas? Absolutely Detroit takes that deal.

Ok guys these are the peices Detroit takes in
Fiala, 3rd round pick, Poolman (dump)

And for getting those pieces, they take on 3.25M for 2 years, send Hanas, and a 2nd. Fiala is worth over a 1st right now. If you want I could exclude Poolman, but really, Cap isn't a problem for you. Fiala would be your top scoring winger, maybe on Larkin's line. A 30 goal scorer. How many of those can you get? Short term Cap loss for that. Fiala is performing better than Hanas ever will.

The more I think about it the more I like it actually, I wasn't on board at the start. Poolman is not very good, I think he's labeled as a dump in this trade. If Detroit drafts Jiricek or Nemec, they cloud trade Hronek for a centre.

I actually really like the deal now after thinking about it. I just don't like retaining on a guy for two years, especially when we might need that retention slot at the deadline. Good imagination I think it's good.

Realistically the only way i see Detroit taking Kevin Fiala, Is if Yzerman deals Tyler Bertuzzi for picks and prospect.

creative, but what would Detroit be retaining? What would Detroit benefit from this trade at all? (they cant retain anything from a salary that doesnt exist yet)...

lets just say your theory works for some miracle of a reason... Why would Detroit take on 2 years of a deal for you, also take poolman's $2.5M for 4 more years and pay Fiala what he was worth? Logically none of that makes sense other than Detroit would be just becoming Arizona without getting any picks.

In the end, this trade pretty much gives Detroit Fiala for $12.5M of Contracts... WHY NOT JUST OFFER $12.5M To JOHNNY HOCKEY FOR 8 Years AND KEEP a 2nd & CROSS HANAS... BOOM DONE.

Small correction, 3 years of Poolman. And it costs assets to obtain Fiala. But you don't give up assets, instead you use your excess Cap to get them. 12.5 for Johny Gaudreau would very quickly become the worst contract in the NHL

$12.5 for Gaudreau would be one of the worst contracts... but $12.5 for Fiala plus giving up a 2nd round pick and Cross Hanas isnt better by any means...
My point is Detroit is giving up WAY too much for Fiala when they could get someone just as good or better for the same CAP & not give up a pick and prospect.

Give me $9M for Forsberg & $4M for for Bryan Rust
Or $4.5M for Rust & $4.5M for Copp... Ill keep the extra cash, 2nd and Hanas.

Just so many other options work better for Detroit then this would.

12.5, after half that time it's 6.7. Fiala is younger than any of the free agents you cam get. What garuntee is there that they sign in Detroit?

I see your point, but the thing is, GMs pay assets to get players, players that could have been replaced by UFAs. It's reality. You guys are getting Fiala for very few assets

I really don't mind this deal how out is. We have excess cap space for the next couple years, doesn't hurt to use it for our benefit. The only thing that I don't like about it is having Poolman at 2.5M for 3 years. It still shouldn't be too much of an issue at the end of his deal.
