He’s not having a great year, but that doesn’t seem like a very good deal for Colorado.

Yeah that's why i proposed it. Sounds like he's having a rough year and they're going to need the cap space

If Girard is available, Habs will make a better offer. Fast 23 years old offensive RHD is exactly what we need.

Insultingly low offer. Bellows is a replacement level forward, Wilde isn’t even playing in North America, and you didn’t bother to even include a 1st? Girard has had a bumpy year but this is a terrible offer.

Avs have no reason to trade Girard unless it’s for a great return. They cleared out their defensive prospect pool at the deadline so they can’t really afford to deal top 4 defensemen for the Islanders’ scraps.

Not a perfect player by any means, but still a 23 year old top 4 defenseman and the centerpiece of your offer is Kieffer Bellows

Sounds like he's not performing like a top 4 defenseman, he's 5'10 170lb, and the centerpiece of the trade for the Avs is clearing out 5 million dollars a year for 5 years

Avs pass. Your value on this player is way off. I hope Kieffer Bellows and Bode Wilde develop into good players though.

Habs would easily give Barron + Oilers 2022 1st for Girard.

No. It’s still a bad offer.

My point was that pretty much every team in the league can come up with an easy offer involving a 1st that’s better than the one in this post. I don’t see the Avs moving Girard any time soon, at least not for futures.

I don't see them getting a better offer. Eichel got about 3 first in value. Don't think they get more than 2 for Girard.

And i don't think they want another contract in exchange, as he's already a good contract.

If they trade him, it's for a player coming in on an ELC and a high pick.

COL declines.
The NYI players of interest to COL are not available, and the players NYI are willing to part with, are not of interest or fit or value to COL.

Girard to NYI is based around a return of Beauvillier + pick but with COL adding Lehkonen, there’s less of a need for Beauvillier, as they’d play the same position in the lineup

No. There’s going to be enough turnover within the roster with cap issues that the team will already look much different. Plus this return, doesn’t improve their chances in the playoffs next year

Eichel isn’t a very good comp here. He requested a trade, had a jumbo cap hit that most teams couldn’t fit in their structure, and was unable to play until he could receive his preferred surgery outside of Buffalo. Girard has not requested a trade, has a manageable cap hit, and is still playing games. By no means am I saying Girard is better than Eichel, just that he’s not a relevant case here.

Avs have no reason to trade Girard unless there’s a compelling offer. If they moved him, I would imagine it would be for a top 6 forward of comparable age and production.

I know they don't have to trade Girard, but Byram might push him out of the top 4 soon. And if they trade him for prospect and picks, that would give them cap space to keep Kadri and Burakovsky. Or add another forward through UFA.

If the Avs have a top 3 of Makar/Toews/Byram and trade Girard, that would require the Avs to sign another top 4 defenseman. Manson and Murray are expiring, EJ is a bottom pairing guy, and we don’t really have any top 4 D prospects except for Behrens who is not expected to be in the NHL for another season or two.

So if the Avs move Girard, they’ll immediately have to go replace him with an UFA. And I would imagine that costs somewhere near $4-5M.

I thought they were keeping Manson, he is their only top 4 defensive D, and would probably be cheaper than 4M. But he's 30, it would have to be a short term deal.

If we send Barron back to Colorado, he could be a top 4 RHD option in 1 or 2 years.

But yeah, i guess Avs better keep Girard.
