Tom Wilson is potentially more of a fan favorite than Ovechkin. Trading him would be a PR nightmare.

Nylander and a 1st is nice return, but I just don't see the Caps doing it. Plus, Caps have no desire to take that $3.8M Mrazek contract.

this trade makes sense if you value Tom Wilson the way you should. he is the only player in the league cut from this cloth and exactly what Matthews and Marner need to succeed in the playoffs. thats why the price is sooo high.

Definitely the correct take. Too much for Toronto to want to give up, and doesn’t fit Washington’s needs.
