Wait how does Toronto have the best record in the Atlantic when it comes to beating teams in playoff positions

Would have thought it was Florida...But hey we will take it lul

Per TSN against playoff positioned teams

Toronto = 21-10-4
Florida = 21-9-6
Tampa = 16-16-6
Boston= 15-16-4

Where does the NHL find these people....

Leah Hextall really asked Wayne Simmonds if hes soft....

HAVE YOU NOT WATCHED HIM OVER THE YEARS.

GET THE **** OUT OF HERE

I watched him for years w/ Philly against the Devils. He was the most feared player in the game for at least a 5 year stretch. And he scored goals, too! 5 seasons of 28+Goals.

Kaprizov is so good

Somehow in 22 more games he scored 50 more points

Thats nuts

Like you would think maybe he would have 75 points rn but 101 pretty good.

Do you really think someone named Hextall doesn't know everything about a guy that played for the Flyers for a decade? It was obviously to create a storyline (this is a potential first round matchup after all), and framed that way to illicit a response that would make for a good quote. She was right in the action between the benches, and probably has a history with Simmonds personally, so felt comfortable poking the bear a bit to try and get something juicy and have a bit of fun. It's so boring hearing the same **** every interview, I'm personally really looking forward to seeing a potential matchup here (I was already because of the skill element and the whole never won a round vs. 2-time champ things, but this adds an element of nastiness that's always entertaining), and how Simmonds and Maroon continue this over a 7 game series, which was probably the entire point of the question, to get this beef out there and build hype. There's no shot she actually thinks he's soft, but that's a helluva lot better question than asking "how do you think you're playing" and getting told "oh you know, gotta get back to the basics to get some offense going, get pucks in deep and be aggressive on the forecheck." If you take the time to think things through a bit before immediately jumping to calling her an idiot, you might actually understand why she did it.

The question actually makes perfect sense, the way she formulated it is fine, Maroon calls Simmonds soft, she wants a reply from him to Maroon, that’s fine, that’s literally what journalism is, stirring pots and following up on stuff that was said/reported

Beniers and a quality shot at another lottery pick.
Rough start to the Kraken's existence but they do have some pieces to build around as long as one of their goalies becomes worth their contracts.

Beniers + Nemec + Bedard/Michkov/Fantilli. Then draft wingers and 2nd pairing guys with the 2nd rounders they accumulate

I don't think Winnipeg should even consider it, but it seems like they don't know know/appreciate what they have in Ehlers.

I agree, that's why I think there is decent chance they'd accept. CAR adding a prospect like Suzuki and they'd probably 100% accept.

U18s start today, I am interested to see what Adam Fantilli does for Canada. I know Bedard will light it up, Fimis and Goyette will be ones to keep an eye on, and Filmon, Lorenz, and Ward are my dark horses

On other teams the one and only SEAMUS CASEY is playing for the clear gold medal favourite Americans, who basically put out their NTDP team. Logan Cooley will probably be 2nd in points behind Bedard. Seeing Nazar, McGroarty, and Howard, and Cruz Lucius will be my focal point.

On other teams, I've liked highlights from Mattias Havelid on Sweden, it'll be interesting to follow him. Jiri Kulich will have a massive role on the Czech team. And of course we have the 2006-born Aron Kiviharju on defense for Finland.

Should be a great tournament. Sad to not see Michkov, Miroshnichenko, Mintyukov etc, but I think it was the right thing to do.

Edit: Holy smokes Canada has a 16 year old named Tanner Howe who's eligible for the 2024 draft with Kiviharju

Tough to say. Seems obvious there is going to be some kind of major shake up with the Jets, although I say that about a lot of teams and usually it's pretty underwhelming. From an outside standpoint it seems like Ehlers would be on the table based on the way he's utilized, but maybe there's a disconnect between coach and GM on his value to the team. That seems like an unlikely explanation though, as the issue has been continuous over multiple years and two coaches - could have been resolved if KC thought it was a problem.

So would I but considering the Jets don't seem to value him as highly as they should, you can't help but wonder if he could be had for less than he's worth.

I’d want him on Ottawa so badly. Give them Bernard Docker + Ridly Greig and our 2022 1st

Jani Nyman stood out for me today, his shot is lethal. Kiviharju was FIN best player today.
