as always, the answer remains "Ken Holland exists" and McLeod and Bastian play "the right way"
Every. Damn. Time.
I don't actually dislike the EDM trade (or at least not as much as the other guy), but rather than relying on "Holland stupid; Edmonton make dumb dumb", just make your case with the stats you claim that back-up your position. Besides, the REAL "because Holland" move would be to trade Puljujarvi for some one-dimensional, defensive burden of a W and keep Yamo "because he plays the right way".
As for the trade itself, not bad. The main reasons that I'd be hesitant to accept are:
a.) it increases the likelihood that one of Holloway, Bourgault, or Savoie are rushed into the NHL to fill the now-vacant top-6 spot
b.) both McDavid and Draisaitl seem to love playing with the guy
Say what you'd like about Yamo's underlying numbers, but he has filled the top-6 spot admirably (majority EV production; 21pts in 34 games since Woodcroft took over). Long term he's probably better suited to the 3rd line as a middle-6 W that jumps up when needed, but losing him would leave a hole now. A bigger, stronger, and faster bottom-6 would offset that loss somewhat but it's not as sure a bet- especially given EDM's history with bottom-6s.
