Description
The Hawks are rebuilding. I don't like the idea of losing Murphy, but the Hawks are not contenders and they need to develop their draft picks. I like the way Vlasic and Regula have been playing lately. I'd like to give Ian Mitchell more NHL ice time and allow Beaudin a larger role in Rockford. The way to rebuild is to trade good assets away and retain 50%. That's how we can best weaponize our cap space...to help out other teams that would like to spend assets toward beating the cap. TOR is the perfect example. They have more money than any other team in the NHL and have been able to sign UFAs like Steeves and Ellis from Notre Dame without using an draft capital at all. And even prying away Curtis Douglas from Dallas. They've even been able to find quality players in the 2nd/3rd rounds like Knies, Robertson, Topi, etc... They can't however, make the cap go any higher for them vs other teams. Spend the assets to make it happen.

As a side...If MIN can $13M in dead cap next year...we can have $2.2M in dead cap...

bruh Andrew Peeke is the #1 RHD of the Columbus blue jackets. I think this speaks by itself that where you play in ONE given organization doesn't make you a true #1 RHD.

Connor Murphy is a second pair D-men, that happens to play more minutes because of the lack of better player on the team he plays for.

If you read through my responses, I said I believe 3 times that he'd play the #2 RD because Brodie and MR would play top pair. TOR still needs a powerful defensive Dman on a cheap contract.

No but like, youre still wrong. Rielly Brodie isnt the top pair. and Connor Murphy isnt a number 1 dman. Its like saying Michael Bunting is a top 3 forward in the NHL. Yes he plays on the top line, but hes not a top 3 forward

I couldn't disagree with you more and in a number of ways. A.) I never said Murphy was a top 3 dman in the NHL. You just introduced something that compares 1 player to an entire league. That wasn't me. B.) I'm saying Murphy played the Top RD role for an entire year. I'll even add to that point that he was the driving factor between him and Zadorov...yes those two played our Top Pair most of the year last year until Big Z was dropped down. So this isn't like a Duncan Keith Rob Scuderi situation, because if it were Murphy was the one holding down the defensive play of Zadorov's slowness. And C.) I can't emphasis this enough. I have said that he'd likely play the 2nd pair role on TOR. I'm not breaking up MR and TJ. They're going to be the top pair.

MR and TJ have played more minutes together than either have played away from each other. Not sure what team you're watching.

I'm not going game by game. Fine, the last game they didn't play together. Guess what your goalie was Kallgren...Are you telling me he's your starting goalie? Maybe he was for that game, but your starter is Campbell.

OK, so you're going to put a pair together out of spite for this conversation. Fine. I see you now.
