No thanks, Detroit actually wants its Dmen to be able to score. Middleton's numbers are meh. Detroit is building a world class D core here shortly.

Other teams fans always undervaliing our players and making bad proposals. Nope, not a chance Minnesota is trading fiala for Jake debrusk and trash. Jacob Middletown is going nowhere. Yeah wild are going to trade their cheap restricted 1st pairing dman for nothing.

Minnesota wouldn't do it anyway. It's Vancouver fan , his team who just lost to wild trolling, baiting

I'm all set on Fiala. His production this year is up 70% from his career average which is a massive red flag. He's also an RFA with a $5.1 million QO and coming off a career year, so he's going to ask for the moon.

I can't speak to his production in Nashville since you specifically mentioned his career average, but in Minnesota he's been a bit streaky when he was playing with guys like Rask and Johannson but he's been pretty consistent since he started playing on a line with Boldy so there's a pretty safe argument to be made for him being legit as long as he's not completely carrying a line. Of course there's also the argument that if an acquiring team can't give him a linemate that he has ANY chemistry with that he'll go back to being streaky so the risk is certainly there. Personally I wish Minnesota had the cap to keep him, but they'd need to move too many pieces to make it work and with him being a point per game this season his ask is only going to go up.

Parise/Suter buyouts are why he's available. Even if he was asking for a reasonable $7m-$7.5m given his production this year the Wild couldn't afford him.

i mean saying his production is up 70% from his career average is pretty stupid. He's 25, it's pretty obvious he's simply growing as a player. Compare it to his Minny stats if anything.

I'd personally love Fiala, cap just wont work

He had 337 games of NHL experience going into the season, its not like he's 25 with under 100 games. To think that after 337gp something magically clicked and the guy went from a fringe 50pt guy to a P/GP player is asinine

Yes, but you absolutely have to weigh the 67 ppg pace (with pretty moderate icetime) he had in the previous two seasons far more heavily than his first few. Not every player has their breakout year at 21 or 22. Tons of guys: Tage Thompson, Jesper Bratt, Elias Lindholm, hell even Marchand, just to name a few off the top of my head have had/ are having similar cases, if not more drastic.

There's a far better chance Fiala stays near a ppg than reverting back to .5ppg

time will tell, but I'm not giving up assets for him then paying him a big contract because of 1 good (potentially career) season. Its just a massive gamble. I remember a few years ago people were drooling over guys like Dzingel and JGP who also were mid 20's and having career years. Neither players has gotten back to that production again.

for sure. but thats the inherent risk of trading for a guy like that. I think Fiala is at least a level or two ahead of Dzingel and JPG in terms of skill, age, and potential. would love him on the Bs if he could play C
