You’re gonna get torn apart in the comments by a bunch of casuals who have never watched Fiala, saying “A Fiala return will only get as much as Reinhart and Buchnevich did”.

I mean I like Fiala a lot but not to the tune of a top 5 pick and KHL's best U23 player.
Arguably, this is on par with the return Buffalo got for Eichel.
Would rather just let Fiala and Guerin go to arbitration and try to get Fiala in FA in a year or two.

Yeah I personally think there are better fits for Fiala than ANA, I’m just throwing a lot at the wall with this proposal to stir up dialogue

Yeah makes sense. Though I do think NJ would dip their toe into the Fiala discussions in some capacity. Maybe not this much value, but I’d imagine they counter with something.

If this was a couple years from now and the Ducks were in a different place this is a whole new discussion but right now I think trading a bunch for a player is not a good call plus signing someone to a large deal before we get all the upcoming guys like Z, Terry, Drysdale locked up is a bad idea

Lol oh I’m aware. On one of my recent proposals, I had someone tell me straight up that “Aatu Raty is already better than Fiala”

the reality is that all three players are PPG or close to it, and all three were guys in arbitration that needed to be traded (either for cap reasons or in reinhart’s case just really wanting to leave). the situation is extremely similar even if you don’t want to think it is. not saying the return will be identical but like it’s an obvious comparison to make

Yeah I think that’s fair. Can def be detrimental to try and rush through a rebuild/retool. Gotta be selective about when you make big moves

A top 5 pick and the best U23 KHL player is too much for the Devils to give for Fiala when they can get a winger via trade or FA for cheaper

I have no problem with the value of that deal for NYI. My issue is his next contract. If he's making over $6.5M, that's going to be a problem.

If the Wild take back Bailey, then easy yes from NYI.

Zegras will likely get 8+, Terry 6+, Drysdale 6+ and then you have McTavish the year after along with Perreault

In 3 years Anaheim will be well over 75+ million I’d imagine with just who we have now

They literally can't afford him in arbitration. By all means, I'd welcome that. Then the Devils can pay just money for him when the team inevitably walks away.

My point is that hockey isn’t entirely about points. Not to mention Fiala is producing better this season than Reinhart and Buchnevich did in the 20-21 season. Fiala can single handedly take over a hockey game, Buchnevich and Reinhart cannot. And that’s not to diminish their value but they’re all completely different players.

Wild fans want full value for a player they literally cannot pay. I get it, its frustrating getting lowball offers for such an incredible player. But incredible players are typically only traded in situations where the seller has limited leverage.

Right yeah that’s word for word what the other NJ guy said.

I had the pick mentally slotted at like 7-10 range, so I should have double checked that. Not that it probably changes much from NJs perspective, but top 5 is richer than I was thinking

Well, there's a salary cap to consider.
All teams (except for Tampa Bay apparently) has to abide by it.
With the season he's having, keeping Fiala is likely going to be quite difficult.

Hey man, go ahead and keep him. You'd be a lot smarter to. But Russo thinks he's gone. The math doesn't really work with Boldy's new deal either but, again, you'd be a lot smarter to. If you're moving him, its because you can't afford him (because you can't as of now)

If I knew what any of those numbers meant and how valid any of them are, I certainly would. I choose to watch the impact of a player on any certain game, not look at numbers some guy created in his basement. I hate to break it to you but Fiala isn’t being traded for Pavel Zacha and a 2nd round pick.

Dom Luszczyszyn and Shayna Goldman,, famous basement dwellers.

I can guarantee you don't watch nearly enough hockey to be able to objectively evaluate all three of these players. Which is why GameScore Value Added is a good tool for those of us who can't watch 82 games for 32 teams
