Description
Sign Kravtsov and Blais for 1 year deals and give them an opportunity to boost their Trade Value (right before Othmann, Cuylle and Trivigno become affordable replacement options).

Lundkvist and Jones battle it out for final D spot. The "Loser" spends more time in Hartford, but is able to be called up as 1st replacement when injuries occur.

I don't disagree with the thought of holding onto a guy instead of selling low. My only thought here, just re: Kravtsov-If Gallant wasn't willing to play him this year, when there was clearly a need at RW coming into the season, is it any more likely that he plays him next year, and if so, what's the motivation for Gallant to try to boost his trade value? He's always been a coach that (sometimes to a fault) rewards the players that are good teammates/work hard/etc.

Maybe I'm way off though.

Buffalo easily passes on this. Nemeth would be about their 12th D and Georgiev hasn't been that good this year. Buffalo will be looking for something better than Georgiev to pair with UPL.

If Kravtsov hadn't had such a poor attitude and had reported to Hartford, this current situation wouldn't be taking place. As a matter of fact, he would have probably been the 1st option when Blais went down.

Him pouting and heading back to the KHL (where he couldn't be called back) was the reason he no longer became an option. Add to the fact that Goodrow is clicking on the 3rd line, along with the acquisition of Copp and Vatrano, as well as the hope that Kakko can get healthy. There is no reason for him to be around now.

Between him hopefully maturing more heading into next Season (in multiple ways) at a time when smaller Contracts are needed, it makes him an intriguing option again. And since his stock took a hit, it allows other teams to know what he really is (good or bad) for a possible Trade.

You'll give up Kakko, Kravtsov and Lundkvist for nothing and you'll darn well like it! - Every Habs fan on the board.

Kravstov and Lundkvist have no value. Rangers would be smart to move Kakko this off-season.

The issue with Krav is the pissing contest between him and Drury...it may have started in his first stint at Hartford- but certainly the rift widened when Krav took NYR coaches to task during exit interviews last year when he disagreed with what they were demanding regarding off season conditioning. And this was made even worse by him (after apparently following his own plan) getting hurt during the preseason. Hopefully Krav has grown up A LOT...the team really does need the skill he has to offer- yet if they're going to move him they need to be able to showcase that Krav has grown up and is once again a prospect with a high ceiling. While the org could have handled Krav much better since his draft- I put most of the blame here on Krav...but hopefully Drury and Krav can both take a step back because they both need each other. Drury can't just give away the talent he has and Krav needs either another chance on NYR or Drury to put togehter a deal to get him a chance elsewhere.

Kakko doesn’t even go top 10 in a 2019 re-draft. Kravstov is a bust. Lundkvist I don’t think has much value.

Exactly my point. Less value at the moment. Showcase them next Season to potentially increase their value.

Not sure where exactly Kakko would go in a redraft...but he was the consensus #2 after JH was taken #1...so can't fault NYR there. As far as where he has gone since the draft- for sure you'd like to see better #'s...but the key with all prospects is to give them a chance to succeed and be patient...and no two prospects develop the same. That said- he is developing into a real good NHL player...who knows where his point production goes- but he is a possession beast, is good defensively, and he is the kind of player other offensively gifted players want on their line.

Krav- wouldn't consider a bust...disappointing- yes...if he can mature (a fair expectation of ALL teens and early twenty somethings) he does have the skill set to be a player -and a force- in the NHL. The ball is in hiscourt.

Lundqvist- think you are very wrong here. In actuality he may be the NYR 3rd or 4th best Dman in the organization- but his opportunity has been so limited because Trouba and Fox are in front on the right. He did need to make some adjustments coming here from Sweden...but he has done that and is ready to be a regular in the NHL next season. And he still has a long development ramp in front of him. Still has potential to be a stud in the NHL.
