Making a trade for Andreas Athanasiou? Oh wait he's a UFA.

Maybe Jordan Kyrou?

He's not available. 😉

Habs are not the right people to trade for Scheifele. Not only are we rebuilding, but he is also hated at Montreal. It is not a fit.

There's also very little chance Montreal will give up their 2023 1st. It would have to be for a better player than Scheifele.

Habs aren't in a position to give up premium assets for a guy over 25.

The fact that it's Mark Scheifele makes it even less likely.

Well it is different!

DeBrusk might be a good target, but either of the Jet players on their own is an overpayment for him.

I would hope the Jets wouldn't do the Scheifele trade. Montreal just has nothing enticing at all.

It would also be terrible to pay Liljegren that much and play him on the top pair. Poor Morrissey, it would be like dragging around Poolman again.

What did you do with Wheeler?

I love when people harshly criticize trades after they make even more horrendous trades than they criticize . These trades are a joke.
You really are going to trade away the only right hand centre the team has in Scheif?
Also trading a valuable asset in Vessi for a guy who sneezes and gets sent on the LTIR, doesn't make a lot of sense.
Also you said in my ACGM team that Pionk doesn't get moved but you are trading the future of the Jets D in Heinola for a very below average winger who can't produce on a team like the Bruins?
Also why buyout Wheeler and not try trade him away with retaining some salary? A buyout the Jets would still be paying him after the contract is over. You retain salary and find a team to broker with to send Wheeler to a team that would be on his trade list.

If Scheifele wants out than what do you do, I'm sure he's already made a trade request.

I'm hopeful Vesalainen can still turn into something useful but his value is really low, not saying I'd trade him for Patrick but Vesa isn't worth much right now.

Not saying I'd make that Boston trade but Debrusk is doing quite well with the Bruins now, not sure they'll even want to trade him.

Does anyone even want a retained Wheeler, pretty sure its well known around the league what a problem he is, think the Jets are stuck with him and even worse management and/or ownership don't even see him as a problem.

Yeah I agree that Vessa will turn into something. But he needs consistent playing time. I hope with the new coaching staff and new management they can see that and make that happen. Vessa is only 22 which still surprises me because it feels like he has been in the Jets system for so long already that he is too old to turn into something. I would argue that Vessa is more valuable than Patrick.

I think Wheeler on a contending team that has pieces that are more productive than Wheeler would take him on. Obviously not at the cap hit he comes with currently. Does anyone know what the rules are for retaining salary? Like if the Jets retained 50% of Wheeler's contract and trade him to, Arizona lets say, How much could Arizona retain of that retained salary? If Arizona could retain 50% of Wheeler's remaining $4M+ salary a team would take him on for just over $2M+. Guy can still score empty nets goals and power play points with the best of them. hahaha.
I agree current management don't see him as a problem, but bring in a new management team and new coaching staff ownership might finally see a new perspective of Wheeler. We have all witnessed that Chipman is all about loyalty. If you have been there since day 1 of Jets 2.0 he has a hard time letting go. Hence why we still have the same coaching staff (minus the head coach) since day 1, same management as day 1.
