I get what you’re trying to do by making the deal after the 2022 draft…but that 2023 first is going to be a very high one too.

You won't return a positive asset if you manage to dump Armia.

Oh, god no. That team is still 100% a lottery team. There’s no shot that team jumps over toronto, tampa, florida, and boston, which means that the only hope is for a second wildcard spot. I don’t think theres much of a chance of jumping over the caps and islanders either. Ottawa should be squarely ahead of the habs, and buffalo probably would be as well.

Okay, well lottery teams are non-playoff teams just by definition. Playoffs is an afterthought for this team after the first 15 games.

if there's not alot of injury's i really think they can be the trouble-making team that stays close from a playoff spot

Lol sure. If five or six teams all have crippling injuries to key players, and the habs stay healthy, maybe. Better to just keep those picks.

This team you’ve put together is probably a front runner for last in the east.

Can't imagine this team beats out one of Toronto, Florida, Tampa or Boston... Plus Ottawa, Buffalo and Detroit are on the rise. The Atlantic is a rough division, really the entire Eastern Conference is rough.

Giving Puljujärvi $6m is also pretty bold. The guy is .5 point per game while playing with McDavid and that's with scoring going WAY up this season, league-wide.

Dumping 3 years of Armia will likely cost more than a 2nd and the Jets have no cap space to take him.

So You do not think Edmonton Offers
5.25x3 giving JP A take home pay hike over the 6.you offered 5.25 with Alberta's tax rate of 15% he'd take home $4,462,500 compared to Quebec 33% which is a take home of $4,000,000 Meaning he takes home almost half a million more making 3/4 million less

Sorry, personal tax rates don't mean much. Why do you think people....especially athletes (entertainers) pay personal rates in the province where they work....some of the time?

You're trying to tell me Quebec doesn't tax Canadiens players income)? I looked into this before in the US you pay state taxes for each game where it's played so any game you play say new york you pay NY taxes on games in CA you pay CA taxes on what you make for that game. However during my research i found Canada only taxes provincially to where the team is located so Canadiens players only pay Quebec not Alberta or Ontario .

Armia is a cap dump, and it likely takes a second to dump him, so the Habs won’t be getting a positive return in a cap dump move by getting Barron for free. It just doesn’t happen. For Hoffman, that also likely costs a second rounder to move, since the era for one dimensional players is behind us. Dallas doesn’t make any move for Petry that doesn’t include retention. Toronto will definitely need retention on Allen. I doubt the Oilers are desperate enough to pay a third for a question mark in Drouin, but hey if they did, it wouldn’t be their first big mistake.

It seems only CapFriendly folks are so worried about Canadian personal income taxes. We never hear about MLB or NBA players complain about Canadian taxes, when they sign here, or even when they are traded from an American team to Toronto. I've known Canadians who have worked/lived in Ontario, but claimed residence in Alberta (when the tax rate was lower in Alberta) so they paid the lower taxes. Generally, Canadian tax rates are based upon residence, not where you earn the income.
The other main factor is that the players are incorporated as "entertainers" and can shelter much of their income from immediate taxes, and not paid personal income rates on their income. I know one NHLer who had twelve year career, made I would say made 20m and was able to shelter all of that 20m and not pay taxes on it, since he never withdrew any money. He lived "modestly" on other NHL income had a house in his three cities he lived in, a condo in Toronto, and was married and had three children.

Jets Decline
No need for Armia or his cap hit/contract
Jets aren’t moving Barron
