Johnsson isn’t a bad contract, he’s been rather good this year.
Certainly not trading him for Mrazek, that’s for sure.

I don't see Dubas buying out 2 seasons of a player, that's 4 years of dead cap space, he'll rather add a prospect or draft pick to sweeten a deal, just like trading Ritchie.

Speaking of Arz, why didn't Dubas traded for Wedgewood for goalie depth this year ?

It'll be a good trade for the Leafs too, one less season on the books and Connelly plays for the Marlies.

Just exactly what Montreal doesn't need, ANOTHER Goalie too bad for the NHL but too expensive for the AHL. AR least Hoffman has a use in the NHL.

It's still a coin flip of who is better, Johnsson or Kapanen. Their career numbers have been so close.

I'm not sold on C. Price being happy in Montreal and that the new team upper management won't be thinking trade him to start the rebuild.

        Hoffman is a bad contract.

Well, just receiving equal contracts for Mrzarek isn't a solution. As illustrated the Leafs cap dilemma is still the same.

Johnsson is $3.4m for one more year. We haven’t been close to cap ceiling in a while, but that doesn’t seem bad to me.

That said, if we end up empty-handed in goalie market, trade seems plausible.

Price said flat out he has a NMC for a reason, he is not interested in leaving cause his family has a life and home in Montreal. If that is not clear enough on his intentions I don't know what else can be said. He did leave it open ended cause things could change in the future but the plan is to end his career with the Canadiens

Hoffman has a bad contract BUT at least he is NHL quality, Mrazek is not even an NHL quality backup at this point.

Actually all the players I traded for, minus Hoffman, get paid less than Mrazek and 2 (Connelly and Johnsson) have only 1 season left not 2 years left, like Mrazek has.

Remember the Zaitsev for Ceci trade, both players had the same cash value, but different contract lengths.

Also this bad contract for bad contract might be the only way Dubas makes Mrazek disappear without adding a 2nd Rd pick or a B+ level prospect to the trade.

Not knowledgeable on the NJD.... how's Bernier/Blackwood doing with their injury ? Is it career ending.

Bernier could be. Fairly major hip surgery mid-season.

Blackwood should be fine. Came back from heel surgery too early and tried to play through it. Waited too long to tell staff. Ended up in doghouse with GM. He will be ok, but may have to work his way back into team graces.

I guess you haven't watched Mrazek's career have you. He is a rollercoaster player; one up season, followed by one down season and than back up etc.....

Look at his career stats and you'll know it's true.

As many Leafs fans like to say "it's a what have you done for me lately league" no one cares what his career path looks like just that he sucks now and is not NHL quality
