So essentially you want a first rounder for Schmidt?

Detroit trades 2x seconds and then you flip the seconds for NYR’s first.

Remember Kyle Connor signed his deal in late-September, so the Jets don't have to paint themselves into a corner by making an artificial deadline of the draft.

That's true. I just wonder if Dubois enjoys it here. I know his whole thing in Columbus is he wanted to play for a big market. I wonder if that is still the case.

I don't think WPG will have a hard time re-signing Dubois. He's a great fit, seems to enjoy the city (which is always a bonus) and his Dad is the assistant coach of the Manitoba so his family is located in the city as well. If negotiations extend into the summer, no problem. My prediction is he signs a long term deal, $8m/8year.

Sorry, i flipped one of the wrong St Louis picks. The first comes part of the Copp deal they have in place with the rangers. I thought everyone was aware of that deal. My bad.

Why would we sign Perreault.. not needed or wanted
Not getting that for Schmidt. A 3rd + 4th maybe, at most.
Vesalainen should go for an equally struggling RW.. ie, VGK Nolan Patrick or PHI Owen Tippett
The NYR pick trades is wrong.. We get the 22 1st, not 23, and have the choice of the 22 or 23 2nd… so NYR get ‘22 2nd (NYR) + ‘22 2nd (STL) and WPG gets ‘22 1st (NYR) +’23 2nd (NYR)
Why would we play Gus ahead of Barron… that makes zero sense. Barron will play either 3c or 4c.. not wing and not in the AHL.

Red Wings decline. Schmidt could fill a need in Detroit but not for that price. He's not Devon Toews.

If Dubois doesn’t sign, might as well go full dumpster fire and start back at scratch, possibly ehlers and Connor the only two to survive, and anybody still on elcs.

Schmidt is worth a 3rd round pick to us, for the simple fact that that's what the alternatives will cost. It's not like WPG can afford to keep him, is it?

Thanks for the feedback. I already mentioned earlier that i flipped the wrong draft picks in the New York trade. Perrault is insurance, not going to play a lot. He has some value up and down the line, but you're correct, not needed. I don't know much about Barron, but i think Gus deserves his shot.

I don't think Winnipeg is in need of any cap relief and could keep everyone. They just shouldn't.

seriously?! Out of all the trades on here we are talking about draft picks? Who cares? It literally has zero relevance to the lineup. Its like asking Iverson about practice. I assume some may not get that reference, but it is completely irrelevant.

I respect your opinion, but the picks mean nothing. In the same token, Detroit can keep these picks. Give us a 6th round like I think Datsyuk was, he became a stud and the 2-2nds might not even play in the nhl. I always find it funny when people make a comment on draft picks. they literally could be any round, doesn't matter, should never garner a comment. Let me ask you something. If Detroit held the number overall pick when Daigle was drafted i 1993 and Winnipeg offered say Selanne just for that pick straight up. Bet everyone would say that would be crazy. we all know what happened to Daigle.

There is still a value to these picks. So by your take I can trade you Adam erne for a 2nd because the value of the picks mean nothing. But in reality he's worth a 5th or not even. This is bad logic. A 2nd is more likely to play in the nhl then a 5th, that is how value works

Like i said, i respect your opinion. Just when i come on here and look at the trades. If its a player for picks. I do not focus on the picks, because they are not even a thing but a number in a round. They have zero face value to them until that number becomes a name. That is just me though. I try to focus on the player being traded, because that is the only tangible thing in the trade.

How about Vesalainian for Erne? Vesalainian was a 1st round pick that has done nothing.
