I'll never understand why people vote "No" when a prospect signs his ELC. What is there to go on? It's not like someone is signing Rasmus Ristolainen to a contract for $5.1 million for 5 years, and we have his entire career that we can opine on and have a semi-rational take about. Signings of prospects should be viewed as "Yes" it's a good signing or "No opinion." I mean, it would be different if the kid had been drafted in the second round and had 5 goals and 10 assists in 70 games.

Actually any ELC is good signing. Even if the player isn't an NHLer, his salary doesn't affect the cap. Most times it's 80,000 AHL salary when he plays in the AHL.

Thought the Leafs make a interesting signing last month. Joseph Woll. Coming off his ELC he signed a modes 770,000 three year deal. First two years are for AHL but his final year for 770,000 if he's in the NHL or AHL. It's like the Leafs or Holl don't know if he's NHL good, but they don't want to lose him waivers either in his last year of his new contract.
