Pretty sure both guys get more elsewhere. Someone will offer Nuke a longer deal with a 5m+ AAV. If Kadri signs a shorter deal like that the AAV will be higher too.

Kadri has been on bargain contract his entire career. I just can't see him taking a huge discount like this.

I think Kuemper will look at Markstrom's 6x6, Avs might look at Lehner getting 5x5. 5.5 might be a fair number

Kadri gets more money elsewhere. Even if this does happen though, you put yourself in a cap crunch in 2023. $17.4 mil in cap space and you have to re-sign MacKinnon, extend Byram/Newhook/Kaut, and find replacements for JJ/Compher.

They can maybe get Kadri at that number but it’s going to be more term and an NMC. Kuemper is getting more money and term. Buying out EJ makes no sense, if they really want the cap space they just ask for his list and trade him for a pick.

I think in principle this is correct, the playoffs will determine how much term and money Kuemper gets.

I know the Avs are in a tight spot with that 2C position in question next season. JTC isn't a 2C but Newhook may not be ready for that role, either. IMO, the priority is to sign Kuemps and Nuke then explore a trade for a 2C using Kaut and that 1st in 2023. It'll have to be someone on a cheap(er) contract that hopefully has years remaining or RFA status. I'd have to look around to see who might be able to fit that bill because I'm not sure what's out there. But I can't see Naz coming back - the Avs won't want term and can't afford big money but Naz wants and deserves to be paid.
