Why on earth would we dump UPL for a 3rd before we’ve even giving him a real chance?

He’s gonna be like 24 next year. My thinking behind it was that they’re gonna have a much harder time signing Portillo because he’s going to essentially be boxed out of the lineup for at least 3 years if they keep UPL and Levi is clearly their guy going forward. They want to keep Anderson, next year will be his last season most likely. I’m not comfortable at all with having a tandem of UPL and Levi in 23-24 when they’re going to try and make a big step and try to make the playoffs that season. For me it’s all about making sure they don’t lose Portillo

No reason here is worth chucking a goalie out the window. You sign Portillo and Levi and have them play in Rochester this year. If they surpass UPL, so be it. But trading him in fear of Portillo leaving is a fool’s errand

Levi & Portillo are both unknowns
And this season is ONLY Portillo’s sophomore year
So there’s no danger in losing him any time soon
Portillo is unlikely to wanna go back to school for TWO more years to become a UFA
And IF he did choose to do that, we would have plenty of time to trade him- OR to give UPL his shot, and then trade him to get him out of the way for Portillo if he doesn’t work out

The sort of move you’re making is way too premature

All of the above and you don't trade from a weakness....until the 3 youngsters shake out and a pecking order is established I don't see Adams trading any of the 3 unless a John Gibson is involved and I only say that bc on one of the Sabres boards it is said Adams likes Gibson
