Description
1. Goal is to resign Malkin, Letang, Rust & Rakell.
2) Trading one of Pettersson or Dumoulin seems inevitable. There are benefits to keeping both, but for now, I deal Pettersson.
3) Trading one of Zucker or Kapanen seems realistic if we keep Rust and Rakell. I traded Kapanen because I think a fresh start would do him well and we probably would have to pay to get rid of Zucker.

Wings accept, I have a strong feeling that Marcus Petterson is going to be a Wing.

I feel like if the Ducks had any interest in Kapanen, it would have happened at the deadline. I can't see them turning around to give you your pick back 4 months later. Gotta think that if Verbeek is moving picks, it's to raise the ceiling of the team, not to put them right back where they were.

Fair... I think it could be any team with interest.

Is Boyle still going to be the enforcer for this team? I feel like they need a physical bottom 6 guy to protect Crosby and Geno that is younger

I agree with Rust at 6M-6.25M for 5-6 years at most. If it goes up to 6.5M-7M u gotta let him walk. And I’m a Rust fan. But I think Forsberg will sign for 6.5M-7M for 5-6 seasons. And he’s two years younger too.

I think Letang is 7M-7.5M. The term will the factor. All reports(from his agent as well) say he wants 5 years at 7M. Pens don’t want to do 5 year term. I think it’ll get done at 7.25-7.5M for 3-4 years.

And I agree with Geno too. Some people have Geno signing for 6M per..lol. With Sid making 8.7M..lol. Geno and Sid have always had that little friendly rivalry but shared the team well. Credit to both for making it work with two superstars. Especially Sid. But no way Geno takes 6M or 7M. He’ll get 7.75M-8.25M. And he’s worth it. Still a top 10-12 Center in the league when healthy.

Very true. As a Ducks fan who has been a big Rakell guy throughout, I don't think you're going to like that contract long term...I personally feel like we dodged 3 major bullets when it comes to the next contracts that Hampus (8 x $6.5...eeeeek), Manson and Rakell are going to get. Good players, but you might get 2-3 prime seasons out of Hampus, Rakell *could* finally bounce back with Malkin or Crosby for a couple of years, but again, the tail end of that contract is gonna suck...and Manson, who I absolutely love, but hasn't been the same in 2-3 years.

Just want to touch on this point...Really? I'd have to imagine that if that's all the ask is, that he'd have been signed in Nashville months ago. He's going to be a 28 year old coming off a career year...there *should* be a lineup for him in free agency, and I'd be pretty shocked if the AAV of the next contract doesn't start with an 8.

I could be completely wrong, but I'd be pretty unhappy if I was a Preds fan and that was the contract he signed to leave Nashville.

People in Pgh in love with Rakell so far. Lol. He’s looked great. But I agree. 3-4 seasons at 4M-4.5M is personally all I would go/like to see. He’s only 29 but a lot of games/wear and tear on him for 29.

U think he signs for more than 7M at 6 seasons?? Thats the top range I think. Maybe 7.5M. But 7M at 6 years is a 42M total contract. Huge contract for an NHL wing. He’s not a center.

But I’ll go 7.5M tops. You are probably right. So let’s say 7M-7.5M for 5-6 seasons. I’d be super surprised at more.

Some people are saying Rust at 6.5M-7M for 5-6 seasons. Too much.

Pettersson gets a better return and Malkin signs for less. Other than that this looks pretty good

I don't think that Kapanen will command the same return as Viktor Arvidsson, but that value is certainly within reason. I don't think that he'll go to Anaheim, though.

Detroit accepts that offer. Pettersson will be a good fit here, keeping his eyes on Hronek.

I guess I'm looking at Forsberg as one of two major options on the market. He's currently making $6 mil, and is in the process of breaking every offensive single season record that the Preds have. I'd assume it's at least 6 years, and anywhere from $7-8 AAV. Honestly, gotta think the Preds will be pushing hard to keep him.

Ya, we aren’t far off my man. I think 7.5M at most. I’d say 6 years at 7M per(42M total). Maybe 7.25M for 6 years(43.5M total contract).

If Rust is 5.5M-6.25M, I’d say do it. At 6.5M-7M per, I think is too much. Especially with a 5-6 year term. Might as well go after Forsberg(2 years younger) at 5-6 years for 7-8M per. That’s what I was saying.
