The reason Minni trades Fiala is for needed cap relief.....not to take on 3.6m Brown and 2.75 Zaitsev.
A signed Fiala for Ottawa !st is closer to a deal.

Minny is not looking to operate under the cap... they still want to maximize their cap space. They will surely want a player back from Fiala. Brown is an excellent alternative to Fiala + This trade allows them to add a player at the other two position, save a little bit of $$ AND get a top 5 pick.

Brown is one of the most underrated players in the league. Complete game. Plays 20 min / night.

Zaitsev is the bottom pairing prototype they normally look for. He'll be able to eat 20 min a night and let Addison step into an offensive role when/if Dumba leaves.

Gus is a nearly ready prospect. He allows Minny to ease Wallsted into the NHL and gives him a Swedish Pal as a Duo moving forwards.

No, brown like Fiala needs to get paid in a year. Minnesota will not resign Fiala or brown. Fiala has more value.

You do understand Fleury is coming back and Talbot might be staying also right

Not sure if you are trying to convince yourself, but Guerin has shown to hold firm in trade talks. They aren't taking on any lesser G who potentially would be a backup

What GM says and what they think are completely different things.

Let's be realistic. Minny will not win with 14M dead cap. But credit to them, they are not going full rebuild. They want to accumulate some asset while staying competitive and develop their young players in a winning environment.

My proposed trade allows you to do that. Take the TOP 5 pick and gus and run with It. You will be happy in 5 years.

Ottawa first is not in play, it's a TOP-5 PICK

Also they can't afford to trade Connor Brown, their best 2-way forward and top PK/matchup forward. He scores most of his 55 pts per 82 games at ES/PK

They need to ADD a RW to become a good team, not replacing Brown by a more offensive player

Sens don't want/need Jost. Wild can keep their first. Don't dump Zaitsev (while retaining 2 M$!) on them

SIMPLIFY and make a package with these pieces :

2023 first round pick (top-5 protected)
Second round picks (and/or recent prospects with 2nd round pick value)
Lassi Thomson
Erik Brannstrom
Filip Gustavsson
Roby Jarventie
