Can confirm not a single oilers fan would go Yamamoto 1 for 1 for Strome….
So the added picks coming from the oilers just make it that much worse

I think it all depends how he does in the playoffs but he is only on a 41 point pace. Playing with Drai, that is disappointing IMO. idk tho because I dont watch most of your games

I could also see that his value is down so you dont want to sell low

They do, that doesnt mean he is going to cost assets to move. Look what Buffalo got for Risto's expiring contract last summer

well risto somehow had positive value. Monahan has been getting worse and worse every season for years. I mean it could be a 3rd and 6th to dump him. teams know you need to clear cap for Gaudreau though

There’s no need to call people names. Also, that doesn’t make us stupid for liking Yamamoto over Strome. That’s like calling someone stupid because they like the color red, and not blue. Both make no sense! You can’t say someone is stupid for having an opinion, and liking things.

Now, about Yamamoto, and Strome. Yes Strome has more points, but in my opinion, he’s not near as good defensively, we don’t know if he will click with our players, who knows how much he will sign for, as I think Yamamoto will sign for a cheaper contract than Strome. Yamamoto tries harder all around the ice. When it comes from the defensive zone, to the offensive zone. He constantly gets pushed around, but gets back up and battles. Yamamoto can play with both McDavid, and Draisaitl and be consistent even if he is not getting points. He tries every night to gather points, and keep the goals out of our net. Also, we are tight against the cap.. we have to keep our cheaper players. If you think Strome is better, why are you trading him for a worse player, and late picks?

And there is reportedly a lot of interest in Monahan so it will probably be a small bidding war. I expect he will return a small but positive value before rejuvenating his game in a new market

A. The Hawks are trading strome because they need picks and younger players.

B. HUH? Strome is MUCH better defensively. Not really close. You have an evolving hockey or hockeyviz subscription? It isnt close

C. Their price wont be very far apart. maybe 1-2 mil difference. assuming klefbom remains on the LTIR or is moved, the oilers will have some space for that.

I doubt it. Flames got no leverage with Gaudreau being a UFA and them being tight against the cap. Maybe he will get less but he wont fetch assets. Maybe he will go with a 3rd for a 5th or something

i think that the Wings wont go after anyone big but he is a very good roster player who can help out the youth a lot. and he will be gone once Edvinsson is an RFA (assuming he comes over next year)

No, I disagree. Yamamoto is better defensively and tries his best every night. I don’t see how this would work. I agree the Blackhawks could use picks, and prospects if they want to rebuild, but I don’t understand why you trade for a guy that is way worse… if Strome is better, wouldn’t he get more than late picks, and a player that is “worse”. Hmm, yes, I totally have an evolving hockey subscription.. that doesn’t make any sense, just because I have an opinion. Also, just because Klefbom goes on LTIR, doesn’t mean we will have enough. That 2M difference could mean a lot to getting a goalie. Our biggest needs is goaltending.. that would be my main focus if I was the GM.

Anyways, we absolutely disagree, so I will leave this post here, and let you talk to the other guys. Have a great day, I hope we can talk again in the future!

You can't have conditions on resigning anymore. Also, due to it being only 1 year I don't think you'll get a 2nd 1st rounder on there even conditional. It's essentially 4 1st rounders then for one year of Kane.

His production at the start of the season wasn't great, but he was still creating chances. He's looked really good in this second half, and I think he should be an important piece moving forward. He's also younger than strome, so his ceiling is higher imo.
