I get that you don’t want to move Grans or even believe he’s untouchable.

But humor me, what would it take?

I have visions of a Swedish duo of Brodin and Grans.

I don't think Grans is as untouchable as you suggest. In fact, with the Kings RHD pipeline, he's probably the guy they'd be most willing to move.

His value is probably equivalent to a mid-to-late 1st round pick. The Kings won't want picks in return, but rather something that would help them immediately. Not sure if Fiala is on LA's radar or not, due to his ability to arbitrate his way to UFA next summer. They might be looking for someone a bit younger with a few more years of guaranteed team control.

The assumption is that Fiala signs an extension.

Grans + 1st is on the higher end of what I think we can expect for Fiala, so I don’t think that’s too far off.

there’s an argument to be had around Beckmans value, but I’m not very high on him personally.

The Beckman comment is fair, I think he’ll be a contributing middle 6 guy by next year. But a 1st and a prospect close to the show has got to be the ask. And I think the prospect is the most important piece, and it needs to have top 6 potential.

Then assuming they can negotiate an extension that the Kings are ok with before they pull the trigger, I would say the Kings would probably do a 1st + Grans for Fiala. I don't know anything about Beckman, so I can't comment on that part.

I view Grans as having top 4 floor and as being a better long term fit than Addison.

As for Beckman, I can concede on removing him from this deal. I’m by no means looking to get rid of him, I just erred on the side of overpay. Long term, I don’t see him as a top 6 NHLer and his defense is suspect, so I view him as being dispensable.

Yeah Beckman was just tossed in as a sweetener. The crux of this one is is obviously Fiala with an extension that the Kings like in exchange for Grans + 1st.

Yeah, I think Grans and a 1st is fair for Fiala but I wonder if it’s the best fit. I’m in the forward camp.

Yeah that’s completely fair. I do think that’s the more likely scenario in terms of what Guerin will actually do.

Grans definitely doesn't have top 4 floor. He's a solid prospect but there is absolutely no guarantee he will even be an everyday NHLer. He has the ability to become a top4 dman but it's not his floor.

Yeah that’s probably a wee bit embellished haha. Im always biased in favor of big bodied guys who can skate well, which Grans is. But yes, he’s obviously still a prospect and there’s no guarantees.

I don't recall any of us Kings guys saying that Grans is untouchable, or even nearly so. Clarke and Faber, yes, but not Walker, Spence (who may be the best of the remaining RD prospects), Grans or Allard. Not sure about Durzi -- I think he's our first choice at #3 RD for next season.

I would take that deal as the Los Angeles GM, and I wouldn't be broken-hearted if it didn't include Beckman. This is all assuming that we'd have Fiala for at least 5 years.

Yeah I guess I must have been flip flopping Grans and Faber in my mind on who you value more. Hard to keep up with the many opinions of this site.

And yes, the assumption is that Fiala would sign. He is interested in a long term deal.
