Why exatcly would the isles trade Barzal?

You are insane if you think any trade involving Barzal does not include Caufield or Suzuki. Also, Isles are trying to win now. This doesn't do it for us

i get the sentiment and agree this move makes no sense for islanders given their current roster, but also wouldnt trade suzuki straight up for Barzal as is.

Well the Islanders wouldn't do Barzal straight up for Suzuki either...

ya thats my point, the previous comment made it seem like Barzal is worth suzuki +, Barzal has regressed each year offensively since he signed his bridge and his next contract will probably be in the 8.5-9mil range. Makes no sense for habs to do a 1 for 1, and on the flip side i'm sure Islanders view Barzal ceiling extremely high so they would never move him except for a kings ransom.

I think Barzal might not be happy in Trotz’s system and he could produce more in an offensive system. This is what Hugues want to implement. Barzal would fit perfectly. It was just a thought.

Fully agree i would love to see Barzal in a habs jersey for the right price though. If the above offer was an option the habs would do it in a heart beat.

I would do Barzal for Suzuki and three 1st round picks if Barzal's contract negotiation looks bad. Otherwise, I'm not moving him.



Not sure why everyone says this. Sure, Barzal would put up more points in another system, but he's also been further in the playoffs than McDavid, Matthews, MacKinnon, Gaudreau, Barkov/Huberdeau, Aho/Teravainen/Svechnikov, Kaprizov, you get it. He seems to love winning a lot more than personal points. He pretty much took a shot at Tavares for exactly that.
