Don't want or need Boeser. The focus now shifts to re-signing our UFA's and RFA's. Boeser is too expensive.

Doubt it. No one will want to touch that QO. Pens don’t do this whether they extend Letang or not. We will just let him either sign his QO or go to arbitration and go to UFA this year or next and get him free.

There is zero chance that the Pens or any other team get Boeser "for free" this offseason or next. Highly likely he extends on a long term deal this summer at a cap hit below his QO, whether it's with the Canucks or someone else after a trade.

No one’s going to pay for him for that QO. The Canucks either extend him or he does the QO or 1 year arbitration and walks to free agency. He set his contract that way for a reason lol

He did, but he now doesn't have the leverage to earn that QO like he thought he would've when he signed the last deal. His best option is to sign a multi-year deal where a team still bets on his upside. And any acquiring team knows that's the best option as well, so it's highly unlikely that he gets signed on a 1 year deal at 7.5 no matter what team it is.

He signed it cause it gets him closer to UFA where he can get overpaid. He knew 1 of 2 things would happen. He’d either play so well that he’d be worth more than that, get qualified and walk to free agency becoming one of the highest paid players or he doesn’t play well enough to earn that big of a QO and likely doesn’t get qualified and goes to free agency where he can get a 1 year deal to prove himself or a team just overpays for him cause there isn’t much in the way of really good free agents. So either he will get qualified because the Canucks would have to to keep his rights and he’d be a fool not to sign it and go to arbitration, or they just don’t qualify him and let him go for nothing

I understand the options on paper. I'm simply saying that there's zero chance the Canucks let him walk for nothing. If that means signing a 1 year/7.5m deal then so be it. But that's still the 2nd least likely scenario IMO. The most likely is a multi-year deal with the Canucks or another team after a trade. The one thing the QO gives Boeser in this scenario is a bit of leverage to say which teams he might be more willing to sign a multi-year deal with, similar to a modified NTC.

Yeah but that means his trade value is less than what Canucks fans are hoping for. They aren’t getting a top 4 RHD for him, especially a young one signed long term to a reasonable contract. Their best option is to sign him to a long term extension and hope he plays really good for a year or 2 then trade him if they want to trade him.
