Weber's contract goes on LTIR and it really doesn't hinder Montreal so the rest of the offer is for Chychrun but you would need to include Norlinder, Guhle, Barron, or another one of you're top D prospects for AZ to consider.

A team with the financial stability of the Coyotes isnt going to take Webers contract just for fun, even if you take Weber out ARI still easily declines

They'll need the contract to reach the cap floor and he is owed very little money for the rest of the deal. I could see a deal where Arizona takes the contract on to reach the cap floor.

BRO what is that ARIZIONA TRADE. Montreal would be giving up basically 3 1st round picks+.

Mailloux is a RD and best prospect for the habs.
CGY 1st
Weber's contract can fetch a 2nd, after seeing what the yotes paid for Bryan Little's contract but adding Struble and 50% Drouin, that can return a 1st...

Plus the habs don't really need another LHD, this trade does not make sense...

Why get rid of Drouin when he's UFA after 22-23, no need, especially when they are not trying to be playoff contender right now.
Why get rid of Struble which is a young prospect that shows a lot of potential.

Terrible deal, The stars trade is okay, but I'd hope Habs can get more than that, and I am sure they can

In what universe is a team giving the Habs a 1st for Webers contract, This isnt a video game tears of joy

And Chychurn is easily worth at least 3 1sts if not more

Dude, if Coyotes say no, they are dumb.
Weber is owed $6M total until the end of his contract. Everything has been paid for. This is a fleece job if this trade were to happen. That's basically 3 1st RD picks, for an average LHD which montreal has literally no need for if you look at their prospect pool.

Just because they need to hit the cap floor doesnt mean they take the contract for free, they have RFAs to sign and they'll need to sign UFAs to fill out the roster, they easily hit the cap floor without taking on contracts without being paid to do so

He's worth a 1st, to a team that needs to hit the cap floor. just look at Brian Little. He can fetch an early 2nd or late 1st due to the cash value remaining on the contract and the term. For a team trying to hit the cap floor without paying a lot of money, that contract is amazing. On top of adding Drouin @ 50%, that's an easy 1st rounder

Um, not really cause the UFA's wont cost much, all it would be is a Future Considerations for the Weber contract as it doesn't hinder Montreal. He is also owed very little money and the UFA's and RFA's will not be enough to hit the cap floor unless they overpay them which is not a good idea,

Oh you know which UFAs the Coyotes are going to sign and for how much? What are the winning lottery numbers while you're at it? Overpaying a player that will actually dress every night is more valuable than paying Weber anything to not play at all, especially with how bad the Coyotes situation is.

It's the exact reason why Vegas wanted Ryan Kesler's contract and why Arizona sent a 4th RD pick for Bryan Little's contract. NHL insiders said that Arizona were willing to pay something close to a 2nd for Weber contract. Add a B-C prospect, depending on who you ask and 50% retained of Drouin who will likely fetch at least a 3rdat next year's deadline it makes sense if you think of it lmao,

I just listen to what Friedman and other insiders are saying. I think you need to read up on a few articles if you're defending the yotes for this trade.

Maybe, but you might be overvaluing him by a lot too. He's young yes and on a good contract, however is a LHD. If you look at the Habs depth charts and where they are at, overpaying for something they don't need is stupid. It's poor asset management.

I will confidently say, that Hughes laughs at that trade and hangs up

Vegas wanted to dump Dadonov's contract due to their cap issues, and ANA wasn't willing to take it unless they dumped some of their payroll to VGK. Same happened with Tyler Johnson and Brent Seabrook trade - players with similar contracts were swapped, TB just paid a 2nd to get the contract that wouldn't affect their cap in Seabrook's case, knowing it was a LTIR bound contract.

As for Bryan Little, Arizona paid a 4th for the rights of an university player Nathan Smith who's had a good season. While it's true that they took Little as it benefitted them, claiming that they paid only for Little's contract is a false narrative.
