He is the future considerations but that’s just to play in the marlies. He’s not worth his contract in the NHL

Since he hasn't been traded to the Leafs by TDL, he can't play for the Leafs this season or playoffs. But you're right, maybe he is" future" and is traded to Leafs this summer.
Maybe the Leafs have the option of acquiring him, if the Leafs don't resign Lyubushin before UFA season begins. But his 2.55m price tag just might be too pricey for the Leafs.

They will have a good look at him with the Marlies maybe he impresses and they take a shot on him but yeah 2.55 is definitely a bit pricey

The Marlies traded Biega and Mennell , so another Dman is good for them. Think it just might help Myers too, just playing with a new team which is going to the AHL playoffs.
Myers was the "darling" a few years ago, an undrafted RHD who make the NHL, Seems to fallen out of favour for this past two teams. For his sake, hope he regains his NHL form.

you wont get him for future considerations but the loan itself can count as future considerations and is likely the case.

I think he would be a good addition to the Leafs. I really don't get why Nashville waived him to begin with because he was really solid in Philly and (even though I haven't caught many Nashville games this year) has been statistically fine this year.

Myers for Holl, both similar cap hits, Myers is younger, Holl has been losing ice time to Lily and Lyubushkin. Which isn't good when he was considered Top 4 Dman to earn his contract.

oh, that Ellis trade to Phi looks bad for Nash....got Nolan (traded for VGK for Ahler Glass) and Myers (a future waiver wire cash dump ?)

I could see something like that happening this offseason assuming Nashville isn't one of the 10 teams

They waived him then loaned him to the Marlies I’m sure they’d probably just give him to us if we wanted him

That will never work cap wise for Toronto though. It's more likely a trade around Holl or something

From what I have seen of him he has looked invisible (that is a good thing) statistically he is a black hole.

Holl has lost zero minutes to anyone. If we were to get myers he would be retained. (Even 50% retained is less than they lose with him in the minors). Most likely as a 7th Dman.

So to conclude... why on earth are the leafs trading a top 4 Dman for a player that cleared waivers? Please help me understand the insanity.

Ellis has been trending towards injury prone and has barely played this year. The objective was to allow carrier and Fabbro to take over the top two pairing rhd spots and that’s been a success. Would’ve been nice to get better value for Ellis but right now I’m just happy to be out from his contract

Holl is in a rotation of 4-8 Dman being 1 have to be benched every other game, with Sandin, Dermott, Lily and Lyushkin.... how the hell can anyone still place a Top 4 Dman label on him anymore ?

Maybe because that isn't happening?
