Am I underrating Rakell or did Pittsburgh just seriously overpay?

Maybe both, but definitely the latter

I was expecting the prospect to be Joseph. Clang hurts, but with Blomqvist 20, Gauthier 21, and Lindberg 23 I suppose G prospect was a position of excess.

Simon is addition by subtraction
Reese was not going to get resigned.

So Clang and a 2nd. For Rakell (-35%). Not quite the seven 1sts that Ducks fans were expecting, but not cheap.

Rackell is still over rated though.

I feel the same way. We must be missing something

2020-2021: Aston-Reese 15 points in 45 games, Simon injured, Rakell 28 points in 52 games
2021-2022: Aston-Reese 9 points in 55 games, Simon 11 points in 52 games, Rakell 28 points (again) in 51 games

Rakell and Aston-Reese are both UFAs, so Pittsburgh loses nothing there. And Rakell is every bit as good defensively as Aston-Reese and is the second man to take faceoffs when his center is tossed.

I think no one wins this trade unless the 2nd and Calle become legit NHLers. I genuinely think Pittsburg stayed the same. If anything they got worse for a Stanley cup run.

YOU CANT TRADE ZAR IF YOU WANNA WIN. Honestly, this is fair, except pittsburgh should've added a prospect instead of zar. I really like rakell, and this is a fair package

Joseph has skill and high end potential but he is having problems physically maturing and does not seem to be very... "preferred" by the coaches/management. Clang has a chance of being an NHL starter. The Pens have a good list of G prospects though, so he was "expendable".
