According to this model that goes back to when drafts first started, Boston should've expected to get similar impact with those 3 picks that the team with the 1st overall pick got. It's a rough model because obviously I can't input a generational player like McDavid as the first overall pick, but it's averaged out.

Gotta add a bit to make it look more favorable.

McDavid for DeBrusk, Senyshyn and Zboril

They are probably better off using pick 13,14,15 and using them towards actually effective players say idk Connor, Boeser, Barzal, Chabot

That's an outlier example though because McDavid is Generational and those 3 were busts.

For Example 2011

RNH = 515 PTS

Baertschi = 138 PTS
Oleksiak = 86 PTS
JT Miller = 430 PTS

So therefore the 13/14/15 got more value than the 1st overall.
