What would the price be if the Sens were to flip Mathieu Joseph? Another 4th line PKer would be a nice add to push Helm/MacDermid down the lineup

Joseph fits the timeline for the team. Ottawa prioritized him over acquiring a higher draft pick so I doubt that theyd want to move him.

Sure, I don’t think they’re trying to flip him. But he would have value and I’m sure some GM would happily trade for a PK specialist who has at least some playoff experience. Just getting a pulse on value.

You get helm etc out of the lineup but pushing talent down the depth charts not swapping it out

I wasn’t suggesting Helm for Joseph. The idea is that slotting a player like Joseph in to be a PK specialist would be an upgrade over the existing options and wouldn’t cost a premium asset. I can’t imagine his QO next year will be too high either, so it would be a natural Helm replacement for 22-23.

Of course, most folks are expecting the Avs to target bigger fish before the TDL and that’ll push one of Helm/NAK/Man out of the lineup. This is just an option I was curious about.

Honestly you'd probably have to ask Bolts fans, maybe throw a mock trade in to Tampa to get them looking at the post. I'm assuming at least a 3rd, maybe a 2nd? But I genuinely dont know because I've only ever seen him play against the Sens lol.

thats not what im saying. Jospeh min maxes the bottom 6. Pushing nuke or Bura down to the 3rd line...its a trickle down effect.
make the bottom 6 better buy pushing talent down. He is a 25 year old with arb rights 2 years away from UFA, avs dont need a 2m aav 4th liner bc that is what he will sign for based on all that

Dont waste assets on just focuses on a min maxing effort on the 4th line

That’s why I like Copp, Domi, Stastny Rackell it adds offensive talent to the 3rd line, forces LOC to the 4th (when everybody is hopefully healthy) and pushes Helm or NAK out.

Copp is my ideal target bc I think he slides nicely to 2LW and it gives avs options for Newhook to have either Bura or Nuke as one of his wingers. Compher is a fine winger if he has Bura or Nuke with him too.
also im not ruling out more than 1 of those type of guys as well.

The idea of this thread was to gauge value on a player, not saying that it is what I would do as a GM. To this point, only two responses actually had a perceived price lol (mid-round pick).

Making a move for a pending RFA (Lehkonen, Mathieu Joseph, etc) would be spending assets to improve this year’s team and next, not just burning assets on a role player for 20 games. If the price is right, that’s worth considering imo.

As the full time 2LW when everybody is healthy? I like him with Newhook to play a role similar to what Landy does on the top line, but yeah him Kadri and Nichushkin could be a really solid line, though I don’t know how I would feel about Burakovsky and Newhook together defensively.

I think Sakic might be working on something like that, maybe somebody like Zacha.
