I actually like this, but I'm not sure either Sea or MTL takes our spare parts in those deals

The Seattle trade is because id assume they want prospects and picks. I also assume that they probably get a 1st if they are retaining, I just dont think the Canes are the team to give up another first.

For Montreal, the attraction piece would obviously be Suzuki, to get him with his brother.

Habs would decline that trade. Stepan and smith are essentially worthless to the habs and suzuki isnt worth lehkonen

Carolina would be pretty lucky to pull of either of those trades.

Canadiens reportedly weren't enamoured with the prospects the Hurricanes had available when they were pursuing Chiarot. Its generally hard to see how Suzuki has enough value on his own for Montreal to move Lehkonen, let alone take Stepan and Smith.

Youre talking about Chiarot here. Im assuming no team wanted to give up their good prospects for him when there are guys like Gio, Chychrun, Lindholm etc out there. If anyone is making a deal with the Canes right now they would need to take a cap dump or 2 for the rest of the season.

Chiarot got an unprotected 2023 1st and a decent prospect, pretending he wouldn't have returned a prospect valued around a late 1st is disingenuous. Montreal's clearly signaled that they're not really interested in moving Lehkonen for less than a 1st and Canes still need to make taking on the cap dumps worth the other teams time. Don't see how Ryan Suzuki makes sense for Montreal in this kind of deal.
