Very fair trade, slight edge to COL for the cap savings.

Another W for Sakic. Sturm is a really underrated player, while Jost is unlikely to live up to his draft pedigree.

Intersting, Avs add some size to their bottom 6. I’d say a fair deal though, both are really good 4th liners

Let's hope Jost can turn it around with Minnesota.

Seems like COL is really trying to get bigger before going into the playoffs. Just added 6'3" 218lbs Josh Manson and now 6'3" 209lbs Nico Sturm

Why is Bill Guerin helping the Avs get Giroux?

Didn't see this coming. I really dislike Jost, but he does have team control, while Sturm does not. I'd still rather have Sturm than Jost at 4C in a vacuum, though. I presume this is a sign that MIN is not really going for it this year.

I think Minnesota get the better player, but Colorado gets more cap space while only slightly downgrading.

tbh i expected Jost to be one of the assets in a Giroux trade

Think Avs get better here, so I like it for them, but I'm excited to see if Tyson Jost can step up in a new situation. Already a pretty great young defensive forward, but I want to know if that skill is still in there. I suspect the answer is no, but I hope I'm wrong.

One also is signed for quite a bit less and is better on offense, penalty-killing, and still has good even strength defense and a solid penalty differential (JFresh's player card is on twitter). Considering that this is Colorado's year to go all-in, and this is probably made with the intent to acquire Giroux, this is a fair trade.
