You better be willing to give up more than that for a cheap, capable, NHL goalie. Cause it don’t look like Mrazek is cutting it. All those years in Detroit with their Defensive system in front on him seemed to inflate his stats.

GMs are ruthless too. Every GM is gonna be trying to pawn their rental goalie off to the Leafs for their 1st round pick. Or for a prospect.

All my Leafs/Pens ACGM’s in the offseason trading Casey DeSmith for J.Holl. Bet Leafs fans wish they had him now..lol.

What happened to Woll too? Didn’t he have acouple good games earlier this season? He was atleast a decently thought of prospect.

Goalies don't have a ton of value at best of times. I assume Forsberg will fetch a 3rd and a B prospect or a 2nd round pick at best. Leafs offer here is more than reasonable for the 2 players they are getting.

We can agree to disagree. Those are late round picks. and I don’t even know who the D-man “prospect” is that is being traded from the Leafs.??

Forsberg has been one of the hottest goalies in the league in his last 20 games and has UNREAL numbers against FLA and TBL (and CAR).
Nick Paul is a physical, big body that has decent offensive abilities and is stellar on the PK.
This offer does not even get Ottawa's attention.

Point per game dman in the AHL right now. He is a mediocre prospect.

And people were arguing with me that I was undervaluing Fleury this offseason when I was trying to trade for him. We were all wrong. I over valued him haha.

You will see on deadline day if they trade Forsberg. IF they get a 2nd round pick that is a huge win for Ottawa.

both ufa's. One bottom 6 forward who is mediocre. And a career back up goalie who is currently playing well. A 2nd, 3rd + a B- prospect is an overpay.

ottawa accepts this easily.

I guess we’ll see. I hear the fans panicking already. And Dubas is on his last leg. Another 1st round play-off out and he’ll be gone as well. I would throw around those 1st round picks to save my job if I had too..lol. I guess that’s why I’ll never be a GM though.

Dubas won't lose his job even if the Leafs lose in the first round. He has done a great job overall. He did everything he could last deadline to make it a winning team but they flopped. They had no real holes. Shanahan is on board with Dubas 100% and rightfully so.

But I agree the Leafs should unload their picks and prospects to win. Preferably with guys who have 1-2 more years on their contracts. UFA's hurt my soul.

They’ve been drafting better in the 2nd round anyways..lol. Knies, Niemela(early 3rd round) and Nic Robertson are steals. All 3 would be top 10-15 picks if those drafts were redone. Sucks about Amirov though. Wish him the best. Hope to to him in a Leafs jersey sometime in the future.

hard to tell if they are that good at drafting or if the Toronto market is hyping up those prospects more than they should be. We will know in a few years time. They are all tasty prospects. That is for sure.

Hope Amirov heals up quick also! smile

I think Knies and Topi are legit..lol. I don’t think that’s going out on a limb or “ Leafs fans hype.

Not a Abruzzese fan though. Not buying into a 5’9 Center. Seen too many of them light-up at every level and get to the NHL and just get bullied off the puck.

The problem I see with J. Duszakis why couldn’t he break into the Leafs lineup. Even with injuries they would rather call up A.Biega.

I can see giving Menell a shot at NHL PT. He was a legit, pretty highly touted prospect. I thought the Leafs stole him this offseason. But calling up A.Biega instead of 24 year old Duszak.??

And I did look at J.Duszak stats. Ya, he’s putting up good stats this year. But he couldn’t even cut in the AHL in 19-20. He was sent to the ECHL. Either way I’m sure he has value. Especially to rebuilding team that can give him NHL PT.
.

I somewhat agree with @TMLBRIAN. Except I can see Leafs overpaying for a back-up goalie.

Fans are gonna be surprised I think. With what happend last year with 1st round picks(late 1st mostly) being thrown around for rentals and teams still getting bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs. I don’t think GMs are gonna be throwing them around again.

And Teams are super cap strapped and cap worried nowadays. Maybe when it gets closer to the TD GMs will start panicking but I don’t think so.

I think fans are gonna be disappointed in the returns their rental players bring.

valid point on him not being called up but I will counter that by saying we have not needed an offensive defensemen at all this year from the minors. Our injuries have been to the more defensive guys, so they called those guys up instead. But it is telling none the less. Either way the 2nd and 3rd alone should be enough to get this deal done. Durzak would be an added bonus or simply a contract going the other way.

Nick Paul is also quite good defensively at ES, which is very important for NHL coaches

He received Selke votes last season (with just 20 pts!) and :

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EweKkUOXIAAHWDq.jpg

12th in ES defense WAR, just behind Philipp Danault.

Forsberg has been a top-3 goalie since December

Underwhelming offer for 2 players that Ottawa NEED next season (and maybe longer?)

Mediocre is probably the last word one would think watching Nick Paul. It's not because a forward is not a point producer that he can't be quality. Just look above and get educated

#stopthemisinformation

Edit : it's very possible though that these 2 guys "only" return a 2nd and a 3rd, it will depend on many factors

1) Dorion is one of the worst GMs (worst IMO) so anything is possible

2) market dictates prices

So it depends supply and demand and how Dorion handles the situations

He's 29 and playing on one of the worst teams in the league. You're lucky to be offered a 2nd.

Been talking to Sens fans 3rd for Forsberg is good. They can't keep him because of Gustafson and so trade him
