Everyone will say that Johnny should leave for greener pastures. I'm sure there is a team, if not multiple, that would offer $10+M a year to Johnny. The only thing I'd say is Gaudreau will never be in the same spot he is in Calgary again in his career if he leaves. He will never be the face of a franchise the way he is in Calgary, he could legitimately get the C if he re-signs and break every single Flames franchise record, that's something I think the player really would care about.

Give Chucky and Johnny matching $9.5M contracts and commit to them being your undoubted leaders of your franchise for the better part of their careers. I also think if Johnny leaves in UFA, you have to trade Tkachuk because he will certainly be taking his QO and walking as year later without Johnny making him into a 80+ point player.

For anyone saying the Sean cap dump isn't enough, if we could actually re-sign Tkachuk and Johnny, I'd offer way more to make sure that trade gets done, so let me know if you think its too weak for Detroit.
