Chychrun Crouse Chara

Description
Steeeeeepp price to pay but Leafs get a big upgrade at defence. They do downgrade upfront though but get a nice piece in Crouse.

Their prospect pool gets hit hard but this is the type of deal that would help them for the next few years.

Maybe remove the 2nd round pick going to Arizona?

Thoughts?

Dermott isn't enough of an upgrade over the guys the Islanders could run out instead of him (Robin Salo/Sebastian Aho) for the Islanders to give up a pick for him, even if it's only a 5th. Their farm system is Not Good and they need those picks more than a 6/7th D.

dermott is way better than aho rn and a fifth is nothing especially with how bad lou is at drafting, the isles would take this deal

Kerfoot is having a very very good season and is signed for one more year at a very reasonable cap hit. Look at his numbers. He is good defensively also. And he gets zero PP time right now. On the open Market a team would pay at least a 1st round pick for him.

Holl is not negative value but a serviceable top 6 D. so maybe worth a 3rd rounder?

Your ignorance is showing.

Not sure how it makes the Leafs better this year. Kerfoot is better than Crouse. Suire Chychrum is better than Holl and Dermot, really putting Chychrum on the right side isn't as easy as it sounds. Kerfoot as we have seen is needed at centre in case of any injuries to Mattthews and Tavares
Then next year the Leafs would have to cut their roster due to cap reason. Need money for the RFAs and Reilly's signed contract.
Marginal improvement this year and then going forward without ]h Knies, Niemeala and a 1st and 2nd

I love how on this site Kerfoot is a cap dump and Garland is worth a 1st, top prospect and another asset. What is the difference between the two? Kerfoot has more points, kills penalties, can play centre and is paid 1.5 million less. Capfriendly logic, a middle 6 forward outscoring a pile of players is a cap dump only because of the Jersey he wears. For crying out loud Crouse is worth a 1st apparently and is on pace for less than 40 points.

I agree with you attached comments, but Leaf fans flame the fire by trading Kerfoot and Holl and Dermot for really marginal improvements especially if Muzzin stays on LTIR and then also give up a ton of futures.

that's an absurd over payment for the coyotes, they arnt getting the leafs two best prospects.
Also, I know you really want Chara, but he's so bad dude, so so so bad

I mean lou had 3 1sts so far (none of them top 10) and we came out of there with wahlstrom, dobson, and a project that the jury's still out on (though not expected to be a top 6 player). 4 2nd round picks that we picked up raty and bolduc. Idk about you but thats not terrible drafting at all. Plus dufour in the 5th last year and lennox in the 3rd this past draft. Its not like top 5 but its a hell of a lot better than most.

The Islanders don't want your trash, nor do they want to pay draft picks for it. How about you take Thomas Hickey and give the Islanders a 5th rounder?

In what world is Dermott trash? This is a low risk trade for a medium upside player, who would be an option a filling a legit hole on the Islanders.

I think the trade makes a lot of sense for both teams. Leafs get bigger, more experience, leadership, expiring contract and a late pick. Islanders get the better player, who is younger and has 1 year left at a reasonable cap and is an RFA after that. He may end up being a 5-7 Dman but that would be a reasonable piece going back for Chara.

lou drafted Dobson & Wahlstrom, i don't know where this "lou is bad at drafting" angle comes from. he's had his hits & misses but no GM bats 1.000 on their picks. i'd rather keep the 5th and see if we can find another William Dufour than pay Travis Dermott $1.5M to be Younger Andy Greene next year
