Sharks accept. It's Goody all over again but Middleton is definitely worth it.

Tampa will want a 2nd round pick back if they move Foote. Maybe it's a 2nd+3rd from someone or a different prospect, but Foote should get a 2nd.

Yeah. If Tampa is serious about getting him, amd they have to not only meet SJ's price but also outbid St. Louis and Boston, I figured something around the Goodrow deal would be on the table.

Not if you're also getting retention

Middleton isn't worth a 1st straight up, Tampa will overpay for the player they want, but not fleece themselves.

The 7th is for the 125k retention. That changes little in Foote's value. Tampa should at worst get a 2nd+3rd for him if they move him,or a 2nd+prospect. The level of prospect could be negotiated, but in thks scenario 125k retention changes little. If NJ isn't a fit, no problem, there would be other interested parties if Tampa looked to move him.

I mean, the reality is that the Devils don't need to help you with retention. Imo I think teams with cap are not nearly as aggressive enough in what they get for their space.

The devils simply aren't likely to move an NHL-ready prospect *and* a top 40 pick *and* money, little as it is, for Foote. I want Foote, but no reason to pay that much for him when we don't need to.

Which is why Tampa is paying a 7th rd pick for NJ to retain 125k in the Jarnkrok deal. Foote by himself has 2nd+ value, with the + being up for debate. No team is getting more than a 7th for 125k retention(late 6th at best). If NJ doesn't want to retain the 125k, Tampa will find another team to work with.

I disagree. Chiarot is getting a first and Middleton is easily worth more than him. A team will pay it

Very doubtful. Middleton has played halfway decently for half a season amd has like 53 total NHL games. There's also no guarantee.Chiarot is getting a 1st if he's moved. Most seem to value Middleton around a 2nd or 2nd+very small add. A 1st for him and a 3rd is a good deal if someone offers it.
